ban online casino streamers

I dispute this as to someone who is not clued up about affiliates or the purpose of the stream it's not obvious. They may take it as just someone who is having a gamble and recording it so people can watch.

I fail to see how it's a bad thing to do it anyway. I believe it should be implemented and those against it are obviously trying to protect their income and deceive the viewers.

If you asked the general viewing public who watch such streams what the purpose of the streams are I can guarantee you that the majority would not say to advertise a casino.

I've had correspondence with the ASA (sent in a complaint) about this and await their response. One thing I do not understand is that some streamers/content creators have a huge 18 plus sign before the video starts with some responsible gambling disclaimer at the start of each video but some do not follow this. It's clear that some people are not sure what they need to do so submitting complaints to such bodies is helpful to determine what actually needs to be done anyway.

I do agree the terminology used in the statement you posted is confusing though.
But according to some, the general viewing public doesn't watch our content so it is rather irrelevant?

In other words, you can't have it both ways. You can't say on one hand our streams are only watched by the addicts and the other hand by the general public.

As with all guidelines / regulations, most of the time they are subject to interpretation and I guess only when the ASA were to watch these streams, they can make an informed decision on it.

I didn't say the streams were viewed by the general public. I believe the streams to be mainly made up of addicts and even to an addict the content is not clearly labeled as an advertisement.

Probably best to wait to see what they say. I will post their response here.

Labelling is only needed if it is not clear it is an advertisement. Most, if not all, streamers will have banners inviting viewers to join up, making it clear what the purpose of the stream is. You also have the panels / description underneath the stream.

Let's see what their response is. I am sure if the ASA says more needs to be done that the streams are identified as adverts, the streamers will make that change, just as they have made changes before to make it clear(er) they take commission.

I don't agree with what you're saying but can see that point of view. However, big win videos that link to a casino in the description with no mention of this in the video are surely breaking the rules. I was actually told this last time and they wanted a list of all videos doing this but there are too many to list.

Yep, big win videos may be a grey area as they are not obvious adverts. Only exception perhaps  (no expert here) if the big win is taken from a stream where the banner inviting to join up is displayed.

@Gee_Bee1 Im not blaming one person, They are all doing more harm than good, what if u type fifa 18 and come across chipmonks gambling channel as he streams fifa too

@Lokus do u have a link to that comment by nickslots on roshsteins instagram as surely he wouldnt stoop that low?
its really really unlikely but that is possible with all the fifa 18 channels and most of them are likely to be those disgusting fifa coins channels

There is a difference between people admitting and saying so and just assuming that everybody on this forum is a gambling addict or everybody that streams or watches a stream is one.

One thing you don't do is just tar everybody with the same brush!
Oh yes, I forgot, Affiliation revenue probably generates your montly income, so you are not an addict. Fair enough. Also, I thought you said you are not going to follow this topic since it is in your view quite ridiculous?

Actually, my job (which isn't affiliation) generates my monthly income. From that monthly income I set aside an amount for gambling. Once that money is gone, it is gone until the next wages come in.

Oh and before the money is spent on gambling, all the bills are paid for, money is put in my savings account, money is put into my pension fund, money is put aside for the 3 luxury holidays we have each year etc.

It is not difficult you know, maybe you should try it 9_9

Then why would you feel the need to advertise at least 3 different online casinos and also have a donation link on your twitch, if you are able to comfortably afford your gambling sessions by allocating funds from your wages? Anyway, we did hit a brick wall here. I'll keep to my own opinion, you will to yours.

Why not? It is a free world.

And nobody is forced to click the link or donate. But cheers for looking at my Twitch channel - have you followed?

I've been a member of this forum for a while and I do know quite a few streamers including yourself. No, I haven't followed, thank's for the irony though.

Talking about ironing:

Why would you enter a streamer's competition when you are so against streaming / affiliation?

Quite obvious. I am an addict and I have admitted it, unlike many who cannot. We all reach some point in life where we realize we have a problem. I have simply identified the problem by analysing how I ended up gambling in the first place and it was due to the offer I stumbled upon on YouTube. Not only have I entered into Nick's competitions, but I have also posted the 'Mega Wins' on this forum. You should dig deeper.

Nah I won't dig deeper... no need for that.

You do what you like, but you let me do what I like.... how about it? Everybody happy bunnies that way.

@TechnoJoeIt was banned over 10 years ago children football replica shirts are not allowed to have gambling advertising/content on them.

Also if TV gambling advertising isnt allowed until after 9pm why do we have streamers putting up live gambling content during the day ? just not acceptable.

oh, thats reassuring ..... not.....

BTW, the point i'm making, which I'll spell out for you because I think you missed it, is that TommyBHOY is soo anti gambling advertising, yet endorses a football team who heavily advertises gamling.

They also compete in the LADBROKES Premiership, BETFRED Cup, and WILLIAMHILL Scottish cup - just pointing out his hyupocrisy is all

BTW - I am 100% against gambling advertising directed at kids in any form, in that we will agree I'm sure.

He also cannot say that about someone for which he has no financial evidence to support. To me, uncontrollable gambling is losing what you can't afford to lose, so unless Ryan has the streamers financial information, he has no evidence to support that claim.
100% correct ser
