ban online casino streamers

As someone that has suffered from a gambling problem, I can see both sides of the argument.

Streamers do encourage people to sign up to casinos because it's how they make money. But most streamers that I've encountered don't aggressively push the casinos, so I don't see it as a problem. The only downside to streamers is that by watching them regularly you can start to think that £4-10 spins are normal, when that's actually a very high bet for the average gambler. But even so, I still don't have a problem with streamers. Being a responsible gambler means staying within your own limitations and only you know what they are. You don't have to worry about how much other gamblers do or don't stake.

Most of their viewers, if not all, would've already gambled before watching the stream. Otherwise, why would they be watching? I think streamers promote gambling but don't create someone having a gambling problem. If you have a gambling problem, then unfortunately, you are the only person to blame. Nobody else is at fault. Although you can blame the casinos/bookies for making it too easy to gamble after self exclusion, if you truly have a problem, you'll find a way to gamble anyway. The only way to beat a problem is if you really, truly want to beat it.

I've never felt lied to or deceived by a streamer. You know they're making money from affiliation (they don't deny it), so if you don't like what they do or say, then don't watch. Fortunately, I watch for entertainment and don't have any interest in gambling myself.

How can I do that @Ban online casinostreaming ?? The only ones who can help problem gamblers are proffesionals (gambleaware fx). The only thing I can do, is tell my viewers to stop and seek help. And that's where you as an individual need to want the change. btw you're making it sound like everyone is a problem gambler, which is far from the case.
Hi @SuperSmask

You need to go and research your responsibility as a advertiser for the gambling industry. The gambling commission has written to all 195 online company's that have a UK licence informing them they have to seriously change how they operate and to train staff how to spot, deal and help with problem gambling and money laundering as part of there UK licence or risk losing it. Which they are all failing on at the moment with 5 company's that have been given formal warnings (not named in the report). This will be filtered down to every one who is associated with the industry (including the affiliate marketing advertising streamers)

It seems that i know more about the industry and regulations than you and you say you are a responsible streamer ? Please if you are advertising gambling content and indirectly working for a casino company do some homework first. As i dont mean to be rude but it is ignorant people like yourself who contribute to the problem.

I personally don't see the problem with streamers/affiliates as such, as long as they keep the blatant advertising to a minimum. Look at Rocknrolla, has links on his twitch but I've never heard him mention them: "Great casino press my link and get shit come on" etc,  as many do unfortunately. If I can get anything out of this post it would be streamers making a massive push to get all casinos to implement a "lock withdrawal" function. Can't even count how many times I've cancelled a withdrawal at Videoslots, slow as f*ck they are (at least to process bank withdrawals).
Great comment on the lock withdrawals, This is one thing ive written to the gambling commission about it should be standard practice as part of their licence, Sky Vegas have the best process out there they dont even have a withdrawal process time, when you withdraw funds that is it no chance of cancelling the withdrawal so if sky vegas can do that why not all ?

I may try a freedom of information act request to see how much money was reversed from pending withdrawals last year,  If I manage to get any info will post.

Big win videos are posted because thats what their subscribers want to see - hence the big views and comments. Streamers are providing content that there subs ( and others ) WANT to see. Not to mislead and act as predators. Its like watching the highlights from a football match or the best goal. People would rather see that than the whole game again which is boring. Im not sure what the advertising commission has to do with it as these are not adverts - youtube is a free market place for content ( not adverts ) so i wouldn't hold your breath on getting anything meaningful back from then.

You will see videos with huge losses because streamers also know this is in some ways a highlight video that viewers will be interested to see. I have seen many 'fails' and big losses.

Your interpreting these big win videos al false advertising. Streamers would interpret them as simply the content their subscribers want to see. I streamed yesterday for 4 hours and had some subs come in and out and miss the 'big win' i got on a slot therefor it only makes sense to post this as s separate video which viewers want to see.

These videos are not click bait adverts.
Thanks for the feedback but i disagree with every thing you say, This type of advertising for the casino industry is not allowed in the main stream and its only because the authority's haven't picked up on whats going on, hopefully this can change.

If its not click bait adverts why pinned links on top of the comments section with "exclusive offers to this amazing new casino" ! on Individual big win videos ? Doesn't this give someone the impression they could replicate this win if they sign up to the link I would say they are 100% click bait adverts. (Again not allowed through gambling advertising regulations) Needs to stop.

Good points there.

Say, it is managed that all streamers and Youtube content makers channels that contain links are closed.

Then what?

The addict will go to the thousands of non affiliate linked channels. And those channels only show big win videos. There are thousands of them, mainly from the States. Some of these channels are also very big. Are these going to be closed down too? What next, ban gambling?
Currently you cant legally gamble online in the united states @Slotplayer only land base is permitted, Not to ban gambling more protection for vulnerable and problem gamblers which as a indirect employee of the online gambling industry you have a responsibility for this, How ever i think you are showing the true colours of a online streamer "this problem has nothing to do with me im doing nothing wrong is the person with the addition who is to blame"  Please change your attitude and open your mind a little to this issue.

@Nicola can u pm me it too?

@JohnnyCash in my opinion the casinos that dont allow a lock withdrawal feature are a disgrace.  The casinos know fine well what they are doing.  I bet the amount of reversal losses is very scary.  Even the streamers have admitted to reversing withdrawals.

@SuperSmask  u go onto the street and tell 100 people u gamble 3-4 days a week for hours at a time in front of hundreds of people some of them potentially children and tell them how much u bet including wagering per session and a huge majority will say they dont think u are a responsible gambler regardless of whether its in your means or not.

I actually think streamers in the UK will be regulated heavily if not banned.  We have already seen banning of some giveaways and 18+ logos.  The more gambling addicts there is the more threads like this will appear and more and more complaints will be made.  We are hearing more and more stories about people committing suicide because of gambling addiction in the media.  All it will take is for casino streamers to be mentioned and the shit will really hit the fan.
Exactly that you have to get the information into the public knowledge, by using all the organisations and media out lets you can, it wont change over night.

On the other hand, I think, Nickslots might be the most responsible streamer out there. Contantly cashing out if he gets big hits, decent bet sizes, talks about losing money all the time. He seems to have genuine respect for money and knows that 100 pounds is actually a lot of money

I honestly think that if you only watch the big hit youtube videos on guys like Nickslots and Letsgiveitaspin, you might be fooled and think that slots are a way to get rich. But if you actually watch their streams, which they put out there btw., you can see that they lose everything way more than they cash out.

Kim and Nick are very open about that gambling is a hobby that most likely will cost you money. Kim says almost everyday that he is way way down on slots, and Nick is also very open about wins and losses.

For me as an actual follower of Letsgiveitaspin, I would almost say it keeps me from gambling, cause I get the thrill by watching him, and I can see how much money he loses every single day (almost, sorry Kim lol)

So there are two sides of this.
What do you think about when he posts individual big win videos and then has pinned links in the comments section to "his amazing new casino with amazing exclusive offers" Is this following gambling advertising regulations ? No he isn't @Nick please stop doing this.

In the first Line we create Entertainment-Content.
People are Adults, in first line look in the mirror and see who is responsible for what you are doing. Blaming your addiction or decisions on others, laughable. My opinion.

if you have a gambling problem, do a therapy, get help. Posting on forums, chasing people to get shut down, is not helping anyone.
Standard online casino streamer response !

Any constructive feedback on what you could personally do to help vulnerable compulsive problem gamblers?

Trying to become a nanny state by banning stuff doesn’t help with addictions. The more you hide stuff the more interesting and dangerous it becomes.

we are all adults. I had some mental health issues that harmed me. I didn’t look up videos of said issue because I knew it would make my problem worse.

no one is forcing anyone to do anything.
Thanks for the feedback and admitting to your mental health problems hope you are better now, Take care.

xD  Whats up with the newly made accounts sitting here writing shit about streamers?? seems like ur commentating on ur own post lol.

On topic: I actually like watching casino streams and videos as It helps me to stay away from gambling after a bad session/run. I am currently on a 3~ week break without gambling and I even watch Kim/Slotspinners stream daily. lol

have you ever thought that the standard response may be accurate?
vulnerable compulsive gamblers need to do a therapy and force themselves to stop gambling. Banning streamers isnt gonna change anything.

Talking about lack of research.... FOI and private Companies such as Sky Vegas do not mix. They don't have to provide you anything about reversals and I doubt the Gambling Commission has this kind of information to hand.

As to helping a vulnerable compulsive gambler.... there is plenty that they can do to help themselves and ideas have been given in this topic. How about it - take some of that advice and simply don't watch the streams or any online gambling stuff. It isn't difficult if you put your mind to it. It is one of the steps to recovery and plenty of streamers (including me) have said so both off and on stream.

No genuine streamer wants an addict to make a deposit but at the same time want to provide entertainment for those that control their gambling. Why should the latter suffer because of the former?

Hi @Josh Green

Appreciate the feedback and do agree with some of the points you have raised. How ever there are a few where i don't

Gambling advertising in my opinion should fall under the Health and socially acceptable category like alcohol advertising, fast food advertising and until it was banned funny enough tobacco advertising  and Gambling advertising  of all forms should fall in the same tight advertising regulations as these products (how it isn't is unbelievable). How ever you have quite correctly pointed out that every single game of football we see yet another advert for "gambling"  it is getting out of hand and the whole Industry needs to change.

The streamers in my opinion dont promote responsible gambling in any way, £9K on a roulette spin, £2000 white rabbit bonus, videos of max stake novomatics £50 a spin !! £30K bonus hunt (what the fuck) I could go on and on, and posting individual big win videos with pinned links to there amazing new casino sign up now !! (not even the main stream casino advertising allows this) There are a lot of things that need to change.
Good point, at least people aren't drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and getting fat anymore.

Hi @Solutionnn Its only this account,

Im putting a report together and wanted to start a post on here to get feedback from people on the issue (as im doing at a lot of other places) so when people take the time to comment i feel it is polite to respond.

As for admitting you need to stay away from gambling massive well done (please dont think im being patronising because im really not) Dont answer if you dont want to but have you run out of money or got into debt recently so are substituting your problem with watching streams instead ?

Some feedback i have had from else where is when people run out of money through gambling they watch Gambling streams to fill a void for their addition.

Regarding online gambling streaming My best advice is for any one even with a minor problem is dont watch at all unsubscribe and go cold turkey from all gambling and seek help (Gambler anonymous, your GP, Gam care Gam stop etc). It will be the only way to beat the addition.

Thats a great idea! 100% backing up this.

Doesnt mean casino streams have to be banned. Alot of people enjoy it - you are trying to destroy their entertainment while thinking you are saving people.
Who are you even? Seem you have a lot of freetime to spend all this energy on it?

As with every addiction - if the affected one does not have enough power to quit himself , he will not quit until every option to gamble in the world is closed.
Banning streams will not help.
