@vanHooffit works a bit different in a land based casino.
if a customer comes in and wants to use his debit card to withdraw money, for gaming, they have to set a limit. Limit can’t be adjusted the first visit.
default limit is £250 for a new customer.
Anything above requires manager interaction and safer gambling conversation - can approve up to £50k
Anything above that needs a higher ranked managers approval.
Limits vary from casino to casino depending on their in house procedures and just apply to debit facility.
If a new customer comes in with a duffel bag with £100k cash in it, well, that’s different - can do whatever they want with it unless some suspicion is aroused.
Back to debit cards - if the customer has an existing credit file with another casino within the same group then that can be referenced when considering the limits.
What this all means for the OP, I’m not sure as online will handle things differently.
If it was one deposit of £43k the casino can justify allowing you to play, the same way they could if it was £2001 or £2500, or any number over the threshold. They can just say that the deposit flagged the account as needing verification to be done ASAP but without wanting to inconvenience the customers play.
If it was multiple deposits then they have no justification for not requesting that you verify after the first, possible that they could allow you a second deposit, maaaaybe a third deposit. Allowing a forth deposit, when each deposit is over the verification threshold, would be very difficult for them to justify to the UKGC.
You have a good case I think. Case would be very strong if, after depositing and losing this money, they never requested any verification from you. Check and see, in the year that has passed AFTER losing all this money, have they requested you verify.
If they never requested verification at any point afterwards, well, I can’t see how they can justify that to the UKGC.
My two cents.
