How to Win Big in Western Gold Megaways – Western Gold Cash Respins
Western Gold Cash Respins are triggered by landing 5 or more Sheriff’s Badge Scatters. Each scatter comes with a win multiplier of up to 5x, or one of 3 jackpot symbols (MINI, MAJOR, or MEGA). The 3 jackpot symbols are worth 10x, 25x, and 100x, respectively. The triggering spin decides the number of symbols per reel during the cash respins as they are frozen in place for the duration of the feature. 3 respins are awarded (represented by bullets in a revolver) and all symbols are replaced with blanks or scatter. A scatter landing refills the gun chamber with 3 bullets. Each reel has a multiplier value, equal to the number of symbols on the reel which is only activated once the reel is filled with scatters. When activated, that multiplier is applied to the multiplier for each scatter on that reel.
3 consecutive non-winning spins end the feature, as does filling the board with scatters. Adding all multiplier values at the end of the round forms the winning total.
- Up to 117,649 Megaways
- Cascades with Reaction Wins
- Bonus Add
- Bonus Buy
For those unfamiliar with Megaways slots, the number of paylines, or in this case ‘Megaways’, changes every spin. Each of the 6 reels contains between 3 and 7 symbols, and that number changes on all reels every spin. The maximum number of Megaways occurs when all 6 reels land 7 symbols on the same spin. 3 or more identical symbols on adjacent reels from the leftmost reel constitute a winning combo. As such, the highest number of Megaways is 7x7x7x7x7x7, or 117,649.
Symbols cascade onto the reels rather than spin. After a win is added to your balance, the winning symbols disappear to be replaced by symbols cascading from above. A winning combo caused by this cascade is called a reaction win. Reaction wins continue until no new winning combo is formed, after which the spin ends. Cascades only occur during the base game.
The Bonus Add feature occurs randomly during the base game and adds additional scatters to the reels, increasing your chances of triggering the bonus feature.
Western Gold Megaways also has a Bonus Buy button (not available in the UK) where, at a cost of 50x your chosen bet size, you can buy straight into the Cash Respins feature.
Look and Feel of Western Gold Megaways
Western Gold Megaways paints the typical Wild West slot scene, in the centre of a one-street town with wood frame buildings either side of a dusty track. The only brick construction is the frame for the gameboard which houses 6 reels of patchwork symbols. Play is accompanied by a suitably Wild West soundtrack. During the bonus round the set-up changes to the inside of a whisky bar with bottles of liquor on the shelves and shot glasses strewn over the bar. The 10 regular symbols include 9-A as the six low value symbols as well as a spur, hip flask, cowboy hat and revolver as the highs. The revolver is the highest payer, worth 25x for full win way. See below for the full paytable (based on a €1 bet size).
In terms of gameplay, Western Gold Megaways is like Aztec Gold Megaways with a little less bite. All the numbers have been dialled down a little, along with the volatility. The jackpot values of 10x, 25x, and 50x are a long way from Aztec’s 30x, 100x, and 100x. Similarly, the multiplier values for the scatters peak at 5x compared to 20x. Also, the top value symbol in this game is only worth half as much as its Aztec counterpart. These differences are a bit disappointing, although they should suit players who are a little less risk averse. The top win of 12,000x is not to be sneezed at, however, although hitting it would be a very tough ask.
