Relax are making the most of their recently acquired Megaways license with their second release of 2019 ready to go. An Aztec themed slot, Temple Tumble follows hot on the heels of Machina, Relax gaming’s well-received Megaways debut.
- Release Date: 06.02.2019
- Volatility: High
- RTP: 96.25%
- Paylines: up to 46,656
- Reels Setup: 6 reels / 2-7 symbols per reel.

- Min/Max stake per spin: €0.10/€20
The action takes place on a 6x6 grid with 46,656 ways to pay. As ever with a Megaways slot this is a highly volatile game with an RTP of 96.25%. Big wins come from the free spins round during which you can choose your volatility. Regular wins benefit from the usual cascading (or tumbling) reel mechanic which can produce multiple wins from a single spin.
You can play Temple Tumble Megaways from €0.20 to €100 per spin at participating casinos from February 6th 2019.
Design and Symbols
Temple Tumble is set at the entrance of an Aztec temple in a misty forest. A grid of 6x6 stone blocks containing symbols covers the entrance of the temple. The detailing and the artwork is of a high standard throughout and the design impressive, even if it does owe a little to previous games, especially Push Gaming’s Tiki Tumble. The setting changes during the free spins round as the front of the temple gives way and you travel deep into its belly where the game resumes on the same 6x6 grid set up.
The low-value symbols are the standard Royals J, Q, K, and A followed by green, blue, and red gemstones. The high-value symbols are a dragon mask and the Aztec God face sculpture. The face sculpture is the highest paying of all with 6 across the reels paying 1x bet size. The wild is the explorer, and due to the unique way in which free spins are triggered, there is no need for a scatter symbol. Unusually there are also completely stone blocks with no symbols attached. These stones (and the removal of them) help to trigger the free spins round.
The cascading reels feature is a stalwart of many a Megaways slot but the blocker symbols which eventually trigger the free spins are a Relax innovation.
Similar to other Megaways games (Bonanza, Extra Chilli), and some standard slots (Gonzo’s Quest), Temple Tumble uses a cascading symbols mechanic. Whenever a win lands the winnings symbols fall away and the empty space is filled by symbols cascading down. If the new symbol positions create another win that wins is added to the initial spin and symbols cascade again. This will continue until no new winning combinations are created. In Temple Tumble whenever a win occurs next to a blank stone block, that block will crack and fall away.
To trigger free spins in Temple Tumble you must eliminate every blank stone block. The number of empty blocks changes with each spin so to remove them all you’ll need a good run with cascading wins. If you manage to eliminate the stone blocks then 6 free spins are awarded, and you’ll travel through to the belly of the temple to play them.
Once in free spins, there is a choice of three bonus modes to choose from, each more volatile than the next:
- Extra Spins – Special stone blocks may land which award additional free spins when eliminated.
- Multipliers & Extra Spins – Special stone blocks may land containing either free spins or win multipliers.
- Multipliers – Special stone blocks may land awarding solely win multipliers.
These three options increase in volatility from the medium (extra spins) to high (multipliers and extra spins), to very high (multipliers).
Temple Tumble Megaways Summary
It seems that the Megaways mechanic has plenty of innovation left it in yet, and Relax haves (tumbled) across a very nice one with the stone blockers. As far as I’m concerned this game is, in many ways, the perfect slot; it is very simple to follow, has great potential, it is visually excellent, and it has an immersive base and bonus round. With a jackpot win of under 8,000x stake, it’s not the biggest among Megaways slots, but it’s huge nonetheless. So far Relax Gaming hasn’t made too much of a dent in the slot rankings, but if they can continue to churn out slots this good, it can’t be long before they do.
