Design & Symbols
Ring of Odin is yet another superbly crafted slot from Play’n GO with fantastic artwork, detailed symbols and superb animated segues between the base game and its various features. The opening sequence reveals an approximation of the Palace of Asgard, Odin’s seat of power set in a rocky, desolate, desert-like clearing.
The gameboard obstructs the palace during gameplay with only the rocky escarpments visible either side, leading up toward the dark, brooding skies above. A solid wood and stone structure frames the reel set with the game’s logo in gold above the centre. During regular play the reels float on a translucent background which turned to stone during the features.
Low value symbols are green, purple, blue, and red runestones. High value symbols are Odin’s wolves Geri and Freki, his ravens Huginn and Muninn, his 8-legged horse Sleipnir, and his spear Gungnir. Odin himself acts as the wild and he and his spear are the highest paying symbols, each awarding 30x the bet size for 5 on a payline. The scatter is Odin’s sacrificial eye which only appears on reels 1, 3, and 5.

Odin’s Ring & Draupnir Respins
Odin’s Ring can randomly activate on any spin. The golden ring hovers above reels before locking into the centre of the board while the reels are spinning. The ring awards one Draupnir Respin (Draupnir is the name of Odin’s ring). Furthermore, whichever symbol lands in the centre of Odin’s ring acts as the ‘chosen symbol’ for the respin. Odin’s ring expands to cover all 9 symbols on reels 2, 3, and 4 during the respin. An additional Draupnir Respin is added for every ‘chosen symbol’ landing on those reels. Up to 9 respins can be activated and throughout the remainder of the spins reels 2, 3, and 4 are filled with the chosen symbol, making big wins more likely.
Foresight Free Spins
3 scatters on reels 1, 3, and 5 triggers 4 Foresight Free Spins. Odin’s Ring appears on every spin, activating Draupnir’s Respins, so 4 spins can end up amounting to considerably more.
Multiplier Free Spins
The eye scatters landing in Odin’s ring activates 4 Multiplier Free Spins. During the subsequent Draupnir Respin scatters can land on reels 2, 3, and 4. For each scatter, a win multiplier of +1x is added up to a maximum of 9x which is then applied to every win throughout the round. As with Foresight Free Spins Odin’s Ring activates on every Multiplier Free Spin.
If both Foresight and Multiplier Free Spins are activated on the same spin, only the Multiplier Free Spins are awarded. However, if Foresight Free Spins and Odin’s Ring are activated on the same spin then free spins will begin once all re-spins including Draupnir Respins have concluded.
Our Thoughts on Ring of Odin
Play’n GO have produced yet another high-quality slot in Ring of Odin. As visually appealing as ever, this slot has plenty of oomph both in terms of appearance as well as potential. It is also a very playable slot in that Odin’s Ring triggers often enough that you also get a decent bang for your buck, something which can’t be said for some of the volatile slots out there.
It is advisable, however, to still exercise some caution as Ring of Odin will rip through your bankroll pretty quickly if you get carried away.
As you’d expect, the free spins are not quite so easily triggered, especially the Multiplier Free Spins, where the big money plays. This can be an arduous process but for wins up to 5,000x, some might consider it worth the wait.
Play’n GO are on something of a roll of late with solid, enjoyable slots coming thick and fast in 2020.
