- Win up to 12,500x
- All New Features in this WMS Classic
- Up to 262,144 ways to win
Having recently been furnished with a Megaways upgrade, WMS’s iconic Raging Rhino slot has once again been brought out, dusted down, and given another new lease of life with Raging Rhino Rampage. The sights and sounds will be familiar to many, but the latest incarnation comes with some additional features. The standard 6x4 board with 4,096 ways to win is still in place. However, new features help that board increase in size up to a massive 262,144 ways to win, while others multiply the number of big winning Rhinos on the screen. Add in free spins, win multipliers, and a handful of jackpots and you have a whole new Raging Rhino experience. The BuyPass version also comes with a bonus buy feature.

How to Win Big in Raging Rhino Rampage – Free Spins
3, 4, 5, or 6 diamond scatters award 5, 8, 15, or 20 free spins. Prior to the free spins commencing, you are taken to the Wheel Feature. The wheel contains 12 segments; 7 additional free spins segments, 3 contain jackpot segments, 1 mystery segment, and 1 start segment. Landing on any segment awards its prize before becoming another ‘start’ segment. Spins continue until you land on a ‘start’ segment, whereupon your free spins begin. The maximum number of free spins available is 50.
During free spins, any golden acacia tree wilds forming part of a winning combination are assigned a win multiplier value of 2x or 3x. Furthermore, all the game’s other features (which we will explore further in the next section) are available during free spins, some with enhancements only available during the bonus round.
Land 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 diamond scatters during free spins for an additional 5, 8, 15, 20, or 50 free spins. Unlimited retriggers are available.
- Expanding Reels
- Extra Rhinos
- Buy Pass (more buy feature slots here)
As previously mentioned, the Wheel Feature contains 3 jackpot segments (mini, minor, and major). When landed upon, theses segments award instant jackpot wins of 25x, 250x, and 2,500x the bet size. The randomly awarded Expanding Reels feature is available in both the base and bonus game. The feature selects 2 or more reels to expand in height for the duration of a single spin. In this base game the selected reels expand up to 6 symbols high. In the event of all reels being selected the number of ways to win increases from 4,096 to 46,656. However, during the free spins bonus round, selected reels expand up to 8 symbols, giving a maximum possible ways to win of 262,144.
The Extra Rhinos feature is another random feature, also available in the base and bonus games. A flurry of rhino heads descend upon the reels adding multiple Rhino symbols (the highest paying symbol) to a minimum of 2 selected reels, thus increasing your chances of a big win. Expanding Reels and Extra Rhinos occasionally trigger at the same time.
Where available, a Buy Pass button allows players to forgo the 160 average spin wait to reach the free spins round buy paying 75x their chosen bet size for direct entry. Before fronting the buy-in money, however, there is an opportunity to wager a fraction of that cost to gain even cheaper entry. A spinning wheel with red (lose) and green (win) segments offers diminishing odds for a cheaper entry if you’re prepared to gamble. Pay 50% of the 75x entry fee for a 50/50 chance of winning. Pay less and the green section shrinks while the red expands for a smaller chance to hit pay dirt.
Look and Feel of Raging Rhino Rampage
Fans of the original (or the Megaways version) know what to expect in terms of look and feel. The familiar African Savannah with its dry grasslands and bright blue skies is once again employed. However, Rampage adds a little more detail with the addition of an acacia tree and rocky outcrops in the distance, as well as the huge, animated Rhino overseeing proceedings to the left of the returning 6x4 gameboard.
Also back are the wild animal symbols with the Rhino up top as the highest paying symbol, awarding 7.5x the bet size for 6 on adjacent rows. The low value symbols are the standard royals 9-A with the animal symbols as the highs. See the paytable below for all symbols and their values (pays are shown in coins, to convert to multiples of the bet, divide by 40)
Compared to the original and the Megaways version, Rampage is a little less rampageous in terms of volatility, although still a decent medium-strength affair which shouldn’t discourage the serious grinders too much, especially if they are fans of the franchise. Furthermore, the increase in RTP to 96.2% (or 96.7% if playing the Buy Pass) should be an incentive.
As far as gameplay is concerned Rampage is a delight to play. The additional features really add to the experience and the game should appeal to a wide spectrum of players. One thing I did note is that free spins wins are not generally in the same league as the original or the Megaways version – although perhaps this is to be expected with a win rate of just over one win every 3.3 spins. Saying that there is a max win possible of 12,500x the bet size, so there is still all to play for. In summary, I would say that Rampage is a fine addition to an already fantastic franchise from WMS, and one well worth investigating.
