Mystery Spin Deluxe Megaways
Mystery Spin Deluxe Megaways™ is a June 2019 video slot release from Blueprint Gaming who show no signs of slowing down their prodigious Megaways™ output.
With each of the 6 reels containing between 3 and 7 symbols on every spin, this slot is capable of producing 117,649 way-to-win. Unusually for a Megaways™ production, this is only of medium/high volatility rather than very highly volatile.
Mystery Spin Deluxe has a retro fruit machine theme with classic symbols, flashing lights, and an electronic soundtrack.
Strangely devoid of any triggerable bonus or free spins round, Mystery Spin Deluxe nevertheless has a few randomly activated reel modifiers which can produce some decent wins of up to 10,000 times the stake in fact.
This game can be played from €0.10 to €10 a spin and comes with an RTP of 95%.
Design and Symbols
Blueprint have gone for the classic slot look using fruit symbols mixed in with the standard royals 10-A. The neon looking symbols spin on a black background with the screen housed in a chrome Las Vegas style cabinet. The gameboard and its surrounds take up the vast majority of the screen although either side of the slot there are purple walls made out of rows of small square neon lights which flash randomly and intermittently. Gameplay is accompanied by a looping retro electronic refrain.
The low value symbols are the standard royals 10-A. The high value symbols (in order of value, low-high) are cherries, lemons, grapes, oranges, watermelons, and red sevens. The red sevens are the most valuable with 6 of a kind paying 10x the stake. There is also a mystery symbol which transforms into any symbol and a wild which substitutes every symbol except the mystery symbol.
The Megaways™ mechanic and the Mystery Symbol are both special features. There is also an ‘In Sync feature and a Mystery Spin feature. All features occur in the base game and occur as part of regular gameplay.
Mystery Spin Deluxe has a somewhat unusual game mechanic for a Megaways™ slot. Ordinarily the number of symbols landing on each reel varies and continues to vary on each spin. However, in this instance every reel lands the same number of symbols per spin. Furthermore, the number of symbols on the reels does not necessarily change with every spin. Hence the number of Megaways™ doesn’t necessarily change with each spin. The number of Megaways™ can remain in place for up to half a dozen spins or so.
At the end of a spin, any mystery symbols landed will transform into the same regular symbol chosen at random.
During each spin at least two reels will light up and become ‘In Sync’ with one another, landing identical reels. It is possible for every reel to light up which can lead to some big wins.
This feature combines the Mystery Symbol and the In Sync feature. During a Mystery Spin, all In Sync reels will only reveal Mystery Symbols. This is the feature where the biggest wins tend to occur.
Our Thoughts on Mystery Spin Deluxe Megaways™
Although Mystery Spin Deluxe is certainly not your average Megaways™ slot, this is not necessarily a good thing. For one, there is no triggerable feature such as a free spins round. These bonus rounds often with increasing win multipliers tend to be the most exciting thing about these slots. That level of excitement simply doesn’t happen with Mystery Spin Deluxe. The features are all very mediocre and barely held my attention. Also, the maximum win, although still very nice at 10,000x is considerably lower than most of its ilk – especially when you consider the max bet is only €10 per spin. Compared to Red Tiger’s recent take on the classic fruity, Mystery Reels Megaways™, this really doesn’t cut the mustard.
Blueprint Gaming have produced more Megaways™ slots than any other developer by far, including some of the best on the market. Hopefully Mystery Spin Deluxe is just a blip, or perhaps they’re running out of ideas. I do hope not.
