Money Mouse by Pragmatic Play released on 23.01.2020 is a 5-reel & 3-row online slot with 25 Paylines and a % RTP. This is an Asian-themed game offering players a max win of up to 2,500x their stake. Money Mouse can be played on all devices from €0.25 to €25 per spin and is considered a volatility video slot.
At the start of 2020 Pragmatic Play released a brace of Asian themed games, the unique innovative Magic Journey on January 16th, and the somewhat less innovative Chinese New Year themed Money Mouse a week later.
Money Mouse is a medium variance slot that plays on a 5x3 reel set with 25 fixed pay lines. Anyone familiar enough with Pragmatic Play games will recognize some of the features in Money Mouse. In fact, anyone particularly familiar with Pragmatic games will recognize that this is a clone of 2017's Wolf Gold.
As well as a scatter triggered free spins bonus round, Money Mouse also comes with a Money Respin bonus which pays out cash prizes and has the potential to payout three escalating jackpots over up to 1,000x the bet size.
This slot has a max win of 2,500x the stake and can be played from €0.25 to €125 per spin.

Lucky Lantern Feature
As previously described alongside the usual symbols there are also Lucky Lantern symbols. These are either assigned a cash value or the words, “minor”, “major”, or “grand”. The feature, which is also referred to as the ‘Money Respin’ feature is triggered when 6 or more Lucky Lantern symbols land on the same spin.
Once triggered, all non-lantern symbols are removed from the board and 3 respins are awarded. During the feature the spinning reels only contain lantern symbols and blanks. A new lantern landing resets the respin meter to 3. The round ends after 3 consecutive dead spins, or if all 15 symbol spaces are filled with lanterns.
At the end of the round, all the cash values are added together and paid out. Land 3 identical jackpot lanterns (minor, major, or grand) and the corresponding jackpot is added to the winning total. Filling all 15 spaces with lanterns awards all the accumulated cash and jackpot values and adds a Grand Jackpot of 1,000x the bet size to the total winnings.
3 money tree scatters award 5 free spins. During free spins reels 2, 3, and 4 are replaced with one giant reel containing 3x3 size versions of the regular and special symbols. Landing 3 more scatters adds a further 3 free spins, and there is no limit on retriggers. It is also possible to trigger the Lucky Lantern bonus during free spins.
Design & Symbols
The artwork here is competent but unspectacular. It’s regulation Asian themed slot fayre; the action takes place in a pagoda type structure with a typically Chinese roof, supported by two red pillars either side of the gameboard. Either side of the structure revellers are visible, celebrating the New Year with an animated firework display exploding across the sky of orange and purple hues. Across the top of the gameboard with its purple reels are three jackpot meters ‘Major’, ‘Grand’, and ‘Minor’ with the game’s logo above the central Grand jackpot meter. A typical Chinese soundtrack accompanies the play.
Low-value symbols are the standard royal playing card values J-A. High-value symbols are oranges, a drum, Chinese firecrackers, and a Dragon Mask. The Dragon Mask is the most valuable regular symbol awarding 20x the bet size for 5 on a payline. The wild, which also appears stacked, is Money Mouse who also awards 20x the stake for 5 on a pay line. The scatter is a money tree that only lands on reels 1, 3, and 5. There are also Lucky Lantern symbols which trigger and feature in the Lucky Lantern Feature (see below)
Our Thoughts on Money Mouse
Cloning popular slots for the Asian market is nothing new so I won’t be too hard on Pragmatic Play here. There may not be much innovation going on here but that doesn’t make this any less of a fun game to play, and it can be fun. For a mid-variance game, it could perhaps do with better potential, but the wins can be substantial, and the hit-rate isn’t bad. Again, the design isn’t going to set the world alight but as with all Pragmatic games there certainly isn’t anything much to criticise. The colours are bold and bright, the symbols nicely detailed, and the animation fitting. Money Mouse is more a stocking filler than a main present, but it can be fun for a while, nevertheless.
