- Updated Book of Ra Clone
- Win up to 5,000x
- High Variance Action
Lord of the Ocean: Magic is little more than a minor upgrade from Greentube’s original Lord of the Ocean from way back in 2008. In fact, even the original wasn’t an original, with the game engine and features simply redistributed from their very own much-imitated classic, Book of Ra. This is a highly volatile slot with 10 paylines and a free spins feature which comes with special expanding symbols and a top prize of 5,000x the bet size.

How to Win Big in Lord of the Ocean: Magic – Free Spins
3 or more scatter symbols trigger 10 free spins. Before the bonus round starts one of the game’s regular symbols is chosen at random to become a special expanding symbol for the round’s duration. Special symbols expand to cover the whole reel and pay wins on all 10 win lines, regardless of whether symbols match consecutively left to right. However, expanding only occurs if enough symbols for a win are present.
3 scatters during the bonus round retriggers 10 more free spins. Once again, a special expanding symbol is randomly chosen meaning that there are no 2 expanding symbols. Further retriggers result in more spins and more special symbols – up to 9 in total. With more than one special symbol, multiple wins are often made possible from one spin. In this event each win is awarded separately, one after the other. A meter above the gameboard highlights which special symbols are in play.
Look and Feel of Lord of the Ocean: Magic
Lord of the Ocean: Magic looks and feels almost exactly like its 12 year old incarnation. The artwork hasn’t been improved especially, although it’s not too bad (certainly by Greentube’s standards). The main difference here is that the game’s most valuable symbol, Poseidon, also appears in larger form to the left of the gameboard. The half-man, half fish bobs up and down with his crown and his trident among the corals, plants, and tropical fish of the deep blue sea. The only slight change of scene occurs when free spins are triggered where both Poseidon and the gameboard are submerged into deeper, darker waters. As mentioned, Poseidon also appears as the most valuable symbol, paying 500x the bet size for a full payline. See below for all the game’s symbols and their respective values.
With a top win of 5,000x and its highly volatile nature (and the relative success of its predecessor), it’s safe to say this game will probably do ok. If Ra clones are your thing, there are worse ones out there. If I’m being generous, I’d also add that the addition of the possibility of multiple special symbols elevates this game a smidge above the 2008 version. However, it’s also safe to say that there is absolutely nothing new here.
