Dragon's Fire Megaways by Red Tiger is a 6-reel & 7-row online slot with 117649 Megaways and a 95.72% RTP. Playable on all devices from €0.10 to €10 per spin, Dragon's Fire Megaways is a high volatility game with a max win capped at 10470x your stake.
Design & Symbols
The game stays fairly close in design to the original, taking place once again in the Dragon’s Lair, laden with golden coins. The same symbols are in play, as is the same red dragon egg showing the current win multiplier. The Golden Dragon stands behind the gameboard with one wing/leg either side, his big golden head peering around at the action taking place on the reels. The gameboard is square with 6 even reels (this isn’t a Megaways™ slot with an additional horizontal reel at the top).
Low-value symbols are blue, green, red, and gold dragon’s eggs. High-value symbols are the corresponding blue, green, red, and gold dragons. The Dragon’s Eye is the highest value symbol, paying 50x the bet size for 6 on adjacent reels. There is a fiery wild and there are free spins scatter symbols.
- Fire Blast
- Dragon’s Egg Multiplier
- Dragon’s Eye Boost
- Dragon’s Kindness
- Free Spins
Fire Blast occurs randomly during a spin when the Dragon breathes fire down on up to three reels, bringing with it either wild symbols or scatter symbols. Up to four wild symbols per reel are left in the fire’s wake over two or three reels. Scatter symbols are only left in the event of two reels receiving a Fire Blast, with one scatter left on each reel resulting in a better chance of triggering free spins.
Dragon’s Egg Multiplier
In both the base game and in free spins a winning combination results in a win multiplier being added to the red dragon’s egg to the bottom right of the gameboard. The maximum win multiplier is set at 50x.
- In the base game, the win multiplier is only valid for the following spin and if no winning combo lands the win multiplier value is reset to 1x. However, if a winning combination lands on the following spin then the multiplier is applied to that win and then a further multiplier is added for the next spin.
- During free spins, the win multiplier never resets and increases with every win. Not only that but cascading symbols are in play during free spins which often results in the win multiplier rising several times during the same spin
Dragon’s Eye Boost
On a winning spin, the Dragon's Eye Boost may randomly activate. A huge Dragon’s eye appears on screen and awards a win multiplier of up to 10x. As with any regular spin, that win multiplier carries over to the next spin.
In the event of two scatter symbols landing during a spin the Dragon’s Kindness feature might randomly activate, whereupon the Dragon breathes fire onto the reels to make a third scatter to appear and activate free spins. This feature does not occur during free spins.
Land 3 scatters to trigger free spins. The three scatters turn into 3 large dragon symbols, each containing a different number of free spins. The player must pick one of the symbols to reveal the number of spins they are to be awarded. As already described, free spins benefit not only from a sticky and unlimited win multiplier but also from cascading symbols. Three more scatters retrigger free spins and there is no limit to the number of retriggers possible.
Our Thoughts on Dragon’s Fire Megaways™
This was never going to be anything other than a sure-fire winner. The original Dragon’s Fire was (and still is) a great game that has produced some memorable wins, many of which have featured in our big win compilation videos. As such, anything which spices up an already spicy game can’t really fail, and nothing spices a game up more than a Megaways™ makeover.
Having said that, it’s difficult to say how much the new reel mechanic adds to the original game. Don’t get me wrong, this looks better and is, on balance, a slightly more entertaining game. However, it is very, very similar. The main features are still Fire Blasts and the biggest wins come courtesy of an increasing win multiplier which goes up to 50x. Furthermore, the max win of just over 10,000x is pretty much identical to the original. There are some extras like the cascading symbols in the free spins round and the Dragon’s Eye Boost, but personally I would have liked to have seen a bigger maximum win.
Having said that you cannot knock this game and it is a slight improvement on the original, and given that the original was very good indeed, that takes some doing.
