Diamond Mine Slot
Making good use of their Megaways licensing agreement with Big Time Gaming, Blueprint released Diamond Mine, a Wild West gold rush themed slot in May 2018.
Diamond Mine’s expandable 6 reel Megaways mechanic can deliver up to 117,649 ways to win with between 2-7 symbols appearing per reel on each spin. The ways to win are calculated by multiplying the number of symbols on each reel so the maximum possible is 7x7x7x7x7x7 = 117,649. Big wins on this highly volatile slot come from a free spins round with cascading symbols and win multipliers. With an RTP of 96.43%, you can play Diamond Mine from €0.20 to €100 a spin.
Design and Symbols
Diamond Mine has a cartoon design set at the entrance of a gold/diamond mine with cactuses either side and rocky outcrops in the distance. The game board is at the centre of the entrance, framed by a wooden structure similar to those used to prop up tunnels in mines. There are 6 reels with reels 2-5 extending up to reveal a row of 4 symbols. Each symbol sits on top of a square rock similar to those in NetEnt favourite, Gonzo’s Quest. While the reels spin a nifty country and western banjo ditty plays in the background.
The low-value symbols are the card values 9 – A designed to resemble lettering on a Wild West saloon door. Higher value symbols include pickaxes and shovels, a gas lantern, a miner with a thick white beard, dungarees, and a cowboy hat. The highest value symbol is a diamond with 6 of a kind paying 50x the bet size. It’s worth noting that other symbols pay way less, with the second highest delivering just 7.5x bet size for 6 across the reels. The wild is a bunch of sticks of dynamite and the scatter is a bag of gold. There is also a mystery symbol represented by a barrel of TNT.
There are mystery symbol and cascading reels features which occur throughout the game while the free spins with multipliers have to be triggered by the scatter symbols.
When the barrels land, which they usually do in abundance, they will transform into the same randomly selected regular symbol at the end of the spin.
Rather than spinning, the reels in Diamond Mind tumble (or cascade) into place. If a win lands, once the win has been added the symbols making up the win disappear and new symbols tumble into their place. If a new win is created the cycle will repeat and will continue until no new win is created at which point a new spin will begin.
Diamond Mine Free Spins
Land 4 scatter symbols to trigger 12 free spins. If you land more than 4 scatters during this spin then each additional scatter will award an additional 5 spins. Once free spins are underway an additional 5 or 10 free spins can be won by landing 3 or 4 scatters on the top row above reels 2-5.
The biggest wins are earned during free spins as cascading wins will add a win multiplier for each new win.
Our thoughts on Diamond Mine
Diamond Mine is a great slot. The visuals are fun and the animations spot on. The play is fluid and comes with enough features to keep the player engaged while they await the bonus round where the real money can be made. Cascading wins can really add up, especially using the Megaways mechanic which is awesome, especially in the free spins round. This type of set up will have the high variance players drooling, and I can attest that watching those multipliers add up is a real thrill. It’s easy to see why this remains Blueprint Gaming’s most popular slot to date.
