Design and Symbols
On the left-hand side of your background, find Ra himself, waiting to smash his powers on your reels whenever one or more of his symbols appear in the top two symbol positions. Apart from Ra, the sun god with an eagle’s head instead of his own, who is also the highest paying symbol, you will see two other higher paying symbols. Find Sekhmet, the goddess of war, with a lion’s head in place of her own, and Anubis, the god of the afterlife, with a jackal’s head instead of his own. Worshipped in Ancient Egyptian times, these three gods are the higher paying symbols on Blaze of Ra. The lower paying symbols are the A - J. The scatter of this game is the scarab symbol, and the wild symbol is Ra himself.
The music also fits within the Ancient Egyptian theme, with drum, flute, and harp sounds. Not a tune you would expect to find in a slot game; in fact, we did not turn it off, which is very rare for us. The characters reminded us of other slot games with similar themes, like Legacy of Egypt.
Special Features
When it comes to Special Features in Blaze of Ra, there is not much going on except for free spins and nudging wilds. You will find that the nudging wilds are triggered often enough, whereas, for us, the free spins round took a long time to unleash (actually, they didn’t trigger at all). We found the mechanics of the special features almost identical to those in Tikitumble. While the graphics are not identical, they are quite similar.
Nudging Wilds
When one or more Ra symbols show up in the top two positions, they will cover the entire reels. The reels will nudge down by two symbols for the next two to three spins while all others spin. This feature will keep going until no more Ra symbols are visible on your reel.
Free Spins
Activate free spins by landing three or more scatters. Free Spins are called Free Games in Blaze of Ra. Each scatters symbol will reveal a number between one and two. Add the total of those numbers up, and you have your number of free spins. Any Ra symbol landing during free-spins will be wild and fills up the reels.
