Kalamba games Agent 51 is a sci-fi/secret agent themed slot with nods to The X-Files, Men in Black, and a whole host of classic 60’s spy series. At its core, this game relies on a ‘Book of Ra’ mechanic albeit with a few Kalamba tweaks. Kalamba’s own ‘K-Loops’ feature in the base game and a decent free spins round mean there’s never a dull moment Agent 51.

How to win big in Agent 51– Free Spins
As per ‘Book’ convention the scatter in this game is also the wild. 3 or more scatter/wilds trigger 8 free spins.
A special ‘Expanding Symbol’ is randomly chosen from the game’s 9 regular symbols at the start of the feature. Expanding symbols expand to fill the entire column when they land and pay in any position. For example, expanding symbols on rows 2, 4, and 5 fill the columns and pay as 3 of a kind along all paylines.
Landing the polaroid camera symbol (called the ‘accumulation symbol’) turns another regular symbol into an expanding symbol. All 9 of the games regular symbols appear as photographs above the gameboard on the Collection Meter, illuminating once they become expanding symbols. An expanding symbol may also come with a 2x or 3x win multiplier. The multiplier applies only to wins containing that symbol.
Landing the spaceship symbol awards 2 additional free spins. Both the accumulator and spaceship symbols only land on the middle row.
- Hyper Bonus
The accumulation symbol also appears during the base game and works in conjunction with Kalamba’s K-Loops (formerly known as Lucky Loops) feature to bring expanding symbols to the main game. A K-Loop lasts for 10 spins. Each accumulation symbol landed during a K-Loop illuminates one symbol on the Collection Meter above the reel set. On the 10th and final spin of the K-Loop, all illuminated symbols on the Collection Meter become expanding symbols. After this spin, a new K-Loop begins, and the Collection Meter resets.
Kalamba’s ‘Buy a Bonus’ feature is known as a Hyper Bonus and allows players to bypass the base game and but straight into the bonus round at a price. Agent 51’s Hyper Bonus has 3 purchase options, each with a different price point:
- 8 free spins @ 45.36x the bet size.
- 10 free spins @63.92x the bet size.
- 12 free spins @ 85.30x the bet size.
Look and Feel of Agent 51
Kalamba have done well to create a good looking slot with some nice artwork, plenty of character and a unique theme. Despite being something of a ‘Book’ clone, there is enough about Agent 51, both in design and gameplay to make this very much a game in its own right. Of course, there isn’t an awful lot new here. In fact, keen observers may notice that this is almost a replica of Kalamba’s Sky Hunters slot from late last year. As well as copying ‘Book’ features such as the scatter/wild and expanding symbol, the ‘K-Loop’ premise is also nothing new. Providers such as Pragmatic Play have produced games such as Bronco Spirit which also include a loop type feature in the base game. Nevertheless, the combination of features and the execution still makes for a compelling grind.
The game’s 9 regular symbols are made up of fossilised footprints and a selection of alien creatures. The multi-eyed octopus is the highest paying regular symbol, with a full payline awarding 80x the bet size. The scatter/wild symbol, represented by a suave 60’s gentleman spy, is also worth 80x the bet size although this symbol only appears in the base game. See the full paytable below.
With high volatility and a max payout of over 5,500x the bet size, Agent 51 is one of the more playable ‘Book’ clones with some nice twists.
