On stream this week I gave Hampe a hockey bet for the Dallas Stars to win (which hit), helping him cap off a 50k day (easy). The next day the chat started blowing up with hockey talk and picks, so I figured with playoffs starting Monday that we can continue the discussion and make some picks for today and next week for the playoffs!
First things first, I am not Nostradamus (although that would be amazing) - therefore, I will have great picks and shit picks (that’s what the discussion is for). Next, play within your means - I only gamble with money I am willing to lose, so please gamble responsibly! Additionally, it’s important to note that I won’t place my bets until 1hr before the game - looking for headlines that could change my perspective.

With that being said - let’s get to the games (I only pick NHL):
COLORADO AVALANCHE @ NASHVILLE PREDATORS (7pm Central US time);
Notes:
- The Avs have a chance to win the central division with a win tonight
-The Avs are 7-2 in the last 9 games in Nashville
-Avs major injuries: Captain Gabriel Landeskog (out rest of year) & Defenseman Cale Makar (out until playoffs)
-Nashville is the 5th worst offensive team in the league (statistically) - 2.72 goals per game avg.
-Nashville is hurt - major injuries: 3 defensemen including top d-man Roman Josi & 2 Centers Matt Duchene and Ryan Johansen
My pick:
COLORADO AVALANCE (-1.5) +125 (I believe this is 2.25 in euro odds, but someone please correct me)
GAME 2: BUFFALO SABRES @ COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS
Notes:
-Neither team has much to play for - both are mathematically eliminated from playoffs and will wrap the season tonight
-Buffalo goalie situation - Craig Anderson announced retirement after last nights game, therefore they will likely start UPL who is the better of the 2 goalies
-Tage Thompson (Buffalo) who has been a star player for them is not likely to play tonight - other than that the only other injury that is major would be Samuelsson
-the last 2 games have been high scoring - current o/u line is 7.5 goals (high for hockey)
-Columbus is hurt - Goalie Elvis Merzlikins is out - therefore their backup should be starting
My pick:
COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS (+1.5 with a sprinkle on the ML +149)
-personally, I think this game should be close considering Buffalo doesn’t have their highest scorer going tonight
