Question about verification

I have recently set up accounts with various online casinos and always get the verification done before depositing/playing.

Recently I set up with one casino, submitted all the documents for KYC and my mother started getting promotional e-mails from the same group. Do they gather next of kin information from whatever identity checking service they use?

My mother has a different surname to me, doesn't live anywhere near me, and has never gambled in her life.

It could just be a coincidence but it has got me wondering the extent of the information online casinos gather about customers?

Do they know who I am related too? who my family is?

Anyone who can shed some light on this?

Interesting. The KYC is just confirming you are who you are by official documents that you supply, there is no additional database/information that would be cross referenced to give them 'additional' information. There are some databases for other purposes (are you a problem gambler, are you a cheater...), i.e. things you have done gambling related. These are very limited in scope.

Your case seems either a coincidence, or you are dealing with a dodgy casino that does weird stuff.
