I won big and going through KYC (need help)

Hello,

I have recently won big on a site that I will not name. I won their progressive jackpot which was a huge amount and is life changing for me due to my health and not being able to work for the moment.

once I won I requested to withdraw 2 amounts that was to test if this was real as I still couldn’t believe it! (These have been paid just fyi) there is still a considerable amount left in the account waiting to be withdrawn.
Due to the win my account has locked me out and am currently going through the KYC. I have uploaded all of my documents but am recently unemployed But have  I have shown my savings and bank statements aswell as my previous paychecks.

would there be any reason as to why I won’t be able to get access to my account and withdraw the rest of the money?
thanks

Sounds like they've just locked it until you pass the KYC. Unless it's a shady casino I doubt they won't pay you but I would be patient. Some sites take forever for a KYC. Congratulations on the winnings!

Yes the casino is a known name, just on sure on the whole KYC as this is the first time I’ve ever had to do such a thing.
I have been with the site for over 3 years and had previous withdrawals before and never needed to show anything more then my ID and POA.
it does make me nervous the amount of information they ask for and just curious if other people have had the same experience especially as I am someone who is unemployed recently does this affect KYC?

It shouldn't unless they ask for Source of Wealth (in other words where your money to gamble is coming from) which some do, I've had to do it myself and upload payslips to a casino.

If they do, and as long as they don't determine you are playing outwith your means, you should be fine.

Also congrats on the win 🙂

Thank you so much, it’s genuinely life changing!

as I said I’m recently unemployed this is due to some health problems but looking to get back into employment shortly.

I’ve sent previous payslips and savings but my worry is how do they determine if I’m out of my means as you said? Would this mean they wouldn’t pay me out?

Fyi if you've won a progressive jackpot e.g blueprint provider example, and won top prize the game provider pays the jackpots out, not the casino I don't know what you determine life changing as we all see amounts differently.

If it's a UK site, its standard for KYC,AML,SOW don't panic.

If it's a crypto site that you played on KYC can happen anytime, again providers still pay the casinos the amount and then the casino pays you.
if its a genuine site, they can't not pay you out because you don't work but MAY have to prove where the money come from depending on how much you've put through that casino/typical deposits.

It can be worrying times if you just hit a huge jackpot, just dont tell anyone even family about the win, nobody.

be patient for now.

Even if he is playing beyond his means, it's the casinos responsiblility to catch on to this by triggering SOW, shock it happend only when he won a jackpot right? 🤪

I agree with everything said above, and only extra advice I'd add is like Ryan says, definitely get ready to be patient.

If it is proper casino then you'll probably get paid out in the end, but SOW, AML & Affordability checks can sometimes drag on for months - the fact your account is blocked means it's probably these 3 things. Tho that is good in a way, as having access would've meant they're hoping you spunk the balance before checks are complete - if they are genuinely taking their responsibilities seriously, then they can hopefully be trusted with withdrawals too.

KYC & AML are easy enough to pass with right docs and as long as you're not an actual money launderer lol! It's the Affordability check that is likely the potential time waster.

In terms of Affordability, you don't have to open up to them too much - if it was me & they ask about income, i would just say it's a temporary break from work, hence why my playtime at casino has recently increased, but that job is still open for me & employer knows I'm returning. If you haven't mentioned your health to them already, i would spin it as something sympathetic/heroic like taking time off to care for sick relative, as that'll sound alot better and be less questions than your health)

In meantime i am playing casino with my savings money which is 100% fully disposable and i have little to none other outgoings (say you're single, no kids, cheap accommodation, etc) and all my regular monthly expenditures are paid on time.

And my overall advice is, don't harass them for progress too frequently, stay calm & polite always, never swear, and despite what you've said above about your situation, never ever say to them that you desperately need the money, as that can negatively influence affordability checks.

If they ask, you are always playing for fun only, you're playing with fully disposable funds only and are 100% comfortable with any losses - never say you're gambling to make money - it's always for fun only & with money you can afford to lose - that's very important.

Hopefully they are a decent casino and they pay you out - i will keep my fingers crossed for you it goes smoothly dude!

Big congrats mate!

If it's a proper casino you should be fine, and it's just standard procedure. Having to prove your source of wealth is determining so there's not money-laundering involved. If they determine that you've been playing beyond your means, that would not exclude you from getting the funds, only that they might limit your deposits or ability to continue depositing.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure if they could withhold payment if they determine this (i've always passed SoW checks), but as others have said, the game provider pays the casino and the casino pays you, so assuming it's a legit place, you should be perfectly fine.

Yeah I know it's up to them, but just felt it was worth mentioning.  And yeah 100% amazing a jackpot win triggered it 😂

Is it normal for the safer gambling team to get in contact with you while the KYC is being reviewed ?

Yes, it can happen and is part of their procedures. As others stated, stay calm, polite at all times. They will probably ask you some responsible gambling questions.

I think I know the casino who are doing the checks.  Do worry it will all be fine, the longest part was talking to safer gaming team as we missed each other's calls. 😅 congratulations on the big win
