Was pleased to see the UK eligible for one of the comps.
Review:
A clone of Ecuador gold, in some ways better, in others worse.
Very fond of Ecuador/Tahiti Gold - The graphic theme of Hot Gems is not to my taste.
The random features are much better implemented in Hot Gems then Ecuador Gold in my opinion - countless times in Ecuador I have the mobile wild waste a load of time moving around the last reels without any win materialising. In my experience the mystery feature in Hot Gems seems to be a bit fairer, it is possible for it to fail to hit, but most of the times it made a connection.
I understand peoples annoyance with the large blocks breaking a win as the fall, Playtech could easily fix this so it isn't possible to have this annoyance play out. These games work a particular way, it is just pretty pictures we are watching so have the pretty blocks that fall down indicating a win is coming this cascade, only to be destroyed by a big block that breaks the connection, well, make it so those pretty connecting cascading blocks are ones which DON'tT make a win.
This way the player will be thinking: hmm, no little blocks are connecting

oh but wait, the screen is shaking!!! maybe the big block will fall in the sweet spot!!! cha-ching!!! - oh, it didn't connect with anything, sadface, cry.
This is much preferable to: Hmm, got a win and ways have expanded, here comes the cascade!!, ooooh some little blocks have connected, I'm gonna get another cascade, max ways here I come, ooooh! screen is shaking too!!! this could be sweet!! hey?? wtf?!? That 3x3 block broke my existing connection and didn't connect with anything, sadface, cry, why would they program it like this? WHYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!
I don't know why, I like the game, but I don't like it when I am playing and my only conclusion is a that Playtech have overlooked a design flaw.
Was very surprised at Vanhoof's win as I never expected that kind of potential - Blows the Elk games out of the water with their stupid 2500x win caps.
Not so lucky myself
