1 out 5 Londoners would do what?

Some people can hear you, some unfortunately need to reach own bottom rock to finally open their eyes. Gambling is fun as long as you use common sense, but with addictions it is never that simple and easy to stop.

This is what addiction makes to you. It is very hard to stop with something that gives you the rush. Took me lots of money to loose before I grew strong enough to never consider gambling as a way to earn money.
the main thing is that you finally came to this and your life hasn`t become worse

@OliverCooperI stopped gambling online online due to similar circumstances. I have been playing online slots since 1999 when they was first available. A lot has changed as you can imagine. The slots have become way more volatile, especially the last few years but this didn't matter if you don't play responsibly in the first place. I also took heavy losses, playing slots as a way to make money slowly forgetting it should be fun. It took me a good kick up the ass to realise this isn't the case as I went on a losing streak for almost a year. Not being able to get a single cashout, it was horrendous and a dark period of my life. Somehow I managed to take a break from it all for about 3 years. I really believe it has to be you that has to stop no matter who you get help from.

A few years went by and I started to play again mainly about 8 years ago when I first noticed online streamers on twitch gambling. This time I'm more mature and way more responsible so I was having fun. When I lost I accepted it as all I cared about was having a good time and it didn't matter losing. Then going back to slots becoming more volatile, I noticed a change. When you lost at times it was a fast one. 80% + dead spins and not even one bonus. I even had sessions where I wouldn't get a tease!! But still to counter it , I still had fun more during other sessions with some great wins. Then in the UK the regulators completey destroyed a lot of the fun elements like removing bonus buys (I can't buy a £10 bonus but can spin the same slot at £500!?!) Removing autospin (a killer for me), 3 seconds per spin. When they did this and a few slot providers lowered their RTP this is where it went way too downhill I eventually gave it all up again.  I noticed the same slots that was consistent before with bonuses and wins suddenly wasn't. I was back to many sessions without a tease or bonus again except this time when I eventually did get a bonus, it was 95% under 10x. The fun drifted away as this continued making me more and more frustrated by the way the slots had changed and anyone who doesn't agree about low RTP being a big deal really needs to understand how it does affect a lot. I've witnessed it. 100% in my opinion they play different. The last nail in the coffin for me was I definitely went from having fun to it all being sucked away by endless dead spins and dead bonuses. Like they say , if the fun stops , STOP!

I did. Hope many can follow if the fun stops for them.

● There was also certain questionable licenced sites I found that acted almost criminally that also took a part in me giving up

In the UK it used to be bad in the bookies people doing £100 a spin on machines. Big difference now max bet is £2 it's more enjoyable. Worst thing is can go to a casino and still punt off £100 per number so its a weird balance to be honest. 50 times difference max bets.

Exactly, I consider myself lucky enough to stop myself. I can't t say it's easy, watching streams and seeing people big wins.... But in the end of the day I see other things I can spend that money on and this is what keeps me away from gambling.

Some people are strong enough to stop there, but some unfortunately will do all above and beyond to go and feel the gambling rush. I'm a very addicted to adrenaline. I do things to deal with it and one of them is gambling. But I dont think I could ever consider it a way of income, to me it's the adrenaline.
