Online casino max bets?

With all the FOBT discussions going on recently what are peoples thoughts with the level of max bets available online. White Rabbit being a good example of buying a bonus for up to £2k, and many slots having £100-500 max bet spins, do you think there should be a cap? I'm on the fence with it really so keen to hear opinion.

 
Tricky one but in general I think they should not be limited. It's upto the casino and the gambler to decide what level of risk they are comfortable with.

There is another question of affordability but that's slightly different. Just because a £100 spin is beyond the means of player A it doesn't mean it is beyond the means of player B.

But if a £100 spin is beyond the means of player A - should that player be disallowed from placing that bet?  The sensible answer seems to be yes. But imagine how complicated and intrusive coming up with a solution to implement that would be?

 
I agree with @NudgeShuffle that it's up to the person to decide how big one wants to play, I think what really should be regulated are shitty terms that some online casinos have. Correct me if I'm wrong but FOBTs also has a max win of £500? If so betting up to £100 per spin is crazy to allow as it will trick people by totally crushing the RTP.

As far as I know on a FOBT you cannot place a bet which would affect RTP i.e. place £100 on a single number which should be 35 to 1 but is capped at £500 so effectively 5 to 1. But you can happily place £100 on red or black for example.

I was just reading a previous post of mine about this on the FOBT consultation and my last post seems slightly contradictory. I do flip flop on the question because I understand the motivation for why it might be a good idea to implement max bet controls, however, if you've been bitten by the problem gambling bug then whether the max bet is £100 or £10 it would only prolong the process rather than eliminate it i.e. death by a thousand cuts.

 
I think Kim hit the nail.. its the T's and C's that really really need restrictions.. not what you bet.

the main one being... 

If a casino has a bonus, it should be up to them to enforce the bonus conditions.

Although I agree with Kim on this one, the problem is that while people who can control their gambling are not affected by the bet sizes, those who have a gambling addiction tend to lose the sense of reality and get 'tilted' way more often than they should (speaking from experience). I think a good measure would be an instrument whereby upon signing up, one would need to set up a max bet limit he or she can place on any given slot. I.e: £5. The slot would then not allow a player to increase the bet.

I know of one casino that has this option. In fact at that casino I have my max bet set at £2. It saved me a couple of times by mistake hitting the max bet button and the bet going through.

And that is another thing.... the max bet button should not be sitting next to the spin button. Netent are you listening??!!!

Yeah it’s wrong no excuse for having the max bet button you could argue if there is a max bet button why isn’t there a minimum bet button? 

 
Maybe a max percentage of deposit amount or balance amount could be an option? The £5 bet while on a bonus is a fair term for those of us who only deposit and bet small but is a bit unfair on higher depositers and stakers.
