So I've been giving this new hyped release my devoted attention for the last few days and decided to give it 1000 spins on minimum stake and see what all the fuss is about.
The slot looks and sounds amazing, however there does seem to be a lagging issue and play is kinda slow. I noticed some streamers were having issues with the lag caused by this slot and there CPU was shitting itself (100% CPU usage when playing in 2 windows). Now I have i7, 16gb ram, nvidia geforce card, etc....so I am surprised my laptop couldn't handle a single window of this slot open. However, it wasn't my CPU. The slot is actually a little slow without the turbo play on (UK players / Pokerstars unable to activate?). But enough about the graphics and playability....onto the good stuff...
How does the game work?
Well, like Reactoonz, you have a chosen low paying symbol each round which when a cluster of 5 or more forms will create 1 wild (not 2 like Reactoonz 1). There are also some blacked out wilds which can be activated when a win (or explosion of symbols) occurs next to them.
Now, there are 2 bonus bars to build.
The top one is for the chosen low paying symbol that produces wilds. If you manage to collect 11 of these you will get 1-3 new wilds randomly placed on the screen once all current possible clusters have cleared. This can keep repeating over and over until you don't collect enough.
The second bonus is the Energoonz/Gargatoon collector. To collect for this you need to create clusters with the produced wilds (and only with the wilds) and any clusters connected via a wild will completely clear that symbol from the screen and add the number of symbols to the bonus counter. There are 4 stages to this counter. 55 symbols is Energoonz (4 random single energoonz wilds) which are placed on the play area, these do not contribute the same as the other wildz to the bonus counter. 85 symbols is Energoon (a 2x2 energoon wild) which is again placed randomly in the play area and does not contribute to the bonus counter for connected wins (unless a non energoonz wild is connected also). The last bonus is of course Garga himself. This activates one you collect 110 symbols in the bonus counter, and his x2 version once 135 symbols are collected. After all wins are played out, his 3x3 symbol is placed randomly, followed by 2 of his 2x2 symbols and finally, 10 single wilds (I believe it is 10, never really counted). The bonus counter is now complete and locked and all wins will be played out, followed by (hopefully) that big win screen.
Pay wise, the low paying symbols aren't worth looking at. As before in Reactoonz 1, the main paying method is to get 15 linked symbols of one of the premium sets, particularly the pinks. 15x pinks now pays 500x (was 750x in the 1st release), and of course, this can be doubled should you link them with x2 Garga. There is also more opportunities to link 15 of these due to the symbols being removed once linked with a wild, which means it now has a max win (per spin) of 5083x.
My 1000 spins....
I loaded with £100 for playing my minimum bet spins at 0.20p,
It started quite well in the first 200 spins, the game was busy, loaded with "happenings" and spins full of features being activated (but not the elusive garga) and RTP was running around normal 90% plus. Then things just seemed to hit a brick wall. The last 800 spins were not particularly great, quite boring, no Gargas activated. In fact, I managed to activate once the 2nd Energoon feature in those 800 spins, which pays little to nothing, and is more interesting based on its chance to continue collecting towards your Garga. My RTP in 800 spins was pretty bad, so bad in fact that my £100 was depleted and I needed another £20 reload to complete the 1000 spins.
My conclusion...
The hype about this slot seems a little OTT. The graphics and sounds might be great once the lag and slow playing issues sort themselves out. But the base game pay without hitting Garga isn't optimal for both wagering and low deposit players. In comparison to Reactoonz 1, I think I prefer the original.
I am of course a man of odds and will continue to play the game until I hit a Garga, but after that....I don't think I will be coming back for much more.
