Is it just a strange coincidence?

I posted earlier on a thread where I felt a vulnerable player was being encouraged to gamble and take risks by people on this site.

Within minutes of posting it I received an out of the blue email from LeoVegas, who as we all know come under the LeoVentures banner that owns 51% of this site.  I’ve been self excluded from them for a few years now and have never had any communication with them from the day I did that.  However, after questioning the practices on this site, I got this email informing me that I am now permanently blocked from ever having an account at LeoVegas or any of their sister sites.  It’s been years since I self excluded so I find it very strange that the only time I’ve heard from them is within minutes of posting on this site questioning encouraging vulnerable players.

Is this really just an incredibly strange coincidence or, as I believe, a direct response to my post?  Is this really how this site is run and behaves?

It is a coincidence, we don't share the data with Leo or any other casino unless its for prize crediting or helping out other members with the issues they have at casinos.

And in case you missed the first replies in the thread it's far from encouraging him, rather the opposites and warnings about gambling. I have directed the guy to our guides, not the casinos so he can read more about gambling related topics as he was full of questions. On one side I understand your point, on the other side I can't order him not to gamble, banning from the site immediately wouldn't help. Maybe it was jokingly named topic or maybe it wasn't, but be advised I always try to recommend best course of action, which was my first response as well - to expect to lose and that gambling isn't to be seen as way to make profit.

To be fair, if you're on a gambling site you should expect the majority of people to gamble.

Encouraging gambling and discussing gambling is 2 different things. Might be a confidence but on this site most admins / streamers / viewers almost always advised to only gamble money you're willing to lose.

I've just checked back and the last contact I had with LeoVegas was August 2017, well up until 7 minutes after my post.  Considering I'm self excluded from that site they should not be contacted me at all.  I don't think you share data with them, why would you need to, they actually own it.

As for the original post, you claim it was the opposite of encouraging him, telling him to watch streamers and then choose his games to try his luck,  you and I have very different definitions of discouraging.  He was full of questions, yes he was, about what games he could play to make loads of money.  It's a brand new account and who knows if it is as real as the title suggests but is it really a chance to take?  Given your position on this site, your only response should have been the same as LetsGiveItASpin.  If it is real and he is genuinely so desperate for money that he's willing to gamble for it we'll just have to hope he doesn't make his situation worse and lose everything, well unless he's signed up through the right affiliate link of course.

We are actually separate entity to LeoVentures and we handle (and own) data according to our Privacy Policy and GDPR requirements - which in short means there's no sharing of the data unless it comes to cases stated in our policies.

^^ Click and read the initial response to which I was referring.

And that should've been your only response, like I said, leave the encouraging to people not is such a responsible position.

Congratulations on the LeoVentures thing, must be the first time in history that a company has paid a seven figure sum for a controlling stake in another company and then simply walked away wanting nothing in return.  You might want to let LeoVentures in on this though, they seem to think they got something for their money....
