Casinos in 2025

This discussion thread is intended to gather professional opinions and initiate dialogue regarding critical standards that must be adopted across the online casino sector to ensure transparency, fairness, and robust player protection.

1. The Disparity in Transaction Processing Times

It is a significant operational anomaly that in 2025, with sophisticated payment infrastructure (credit cards, Skrill, etc.), deposits are credited to a player's account instantaneously, yet the withdrawal process often incurs delays spanning several days, or in some cases, weeks. This stands in stark contrast to the immediate payment of winnings at land-based casinos.

While we recognize the necessity of regulatory and security protocols, such as Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) verification, these checks should be streamlined. With the availability of advanced automation and AI, pre-emptive, swift verification should be an integrated part of the initial account sign-up and onboarding process. For non-bonus related winnings, the industry standard must evolve toward instantaneous withdrawal processing to match the speed of initial deposits.

2. Mandatory Disablement of Withdrawal Reversals

To effectively support responsible gaming and ensure the integrity of a player’s win, all casino platforms must implement a mandatory feature that allows the user to irrevocably lock a pending withdrawal, eliminating the option for cancellation or reversal (the "Reversal Window"). This practice is already successfully enforced in highly regulated markets, such as by the UK Gambling Commission (e.g., at operators like bet365), and should be adopted globally as a non-negotiable best practice to prevent relapse gambling.

3. Universal Implementation of User-Set Responsible Gambling Tools

Comprehensive and customizable responsible gambling tools are non-negotiable and should be an absolute regulatory requirement. This includes, but is not limited to, user-settable deposit limits, loss limits, session time limits, and self-exclusion periods.

We assert that it should be a legal requirement for all licensed operators to offer these self-management tools prominently. Furthermore, respected industry affiliates and platforms, including those supported by Casino Grounds, should enforce this ethical standard by strictly limiting partnerships to operators who provide the full suite of transparent, user-empowering responsible gaming measures.

4. Transparency and Fairness in Promotional Terms and Conditions

The industry must move away from predatory and restrictive practices such as hidden terms and unreasonably low maximum withdrawal caps on bonuses. There is a pressing need for a shift toward absolute transparency, simplicity, and fairness in all promotional offers (including welcome and loyalty bonuses). Terms and conditions—specifically wagering requirements, game weighting, and maximum win limits—must be clearly, concisely, and prominently displayed to ensure all players can easily understand the genuine value and requirements of an offer.

We believe that adopting these standards is vital for the long-term sustainability of the industry and for cultivating an environment of trust with the player community. We welcome further discussion on how to collectively drive this change.

I completely agree, especially on withdrawals and responsible gambling tools. Instant deposits but delayed withdrawals are frustrating, and locking withdrawals could really help players stay in control.

Transparent bonus terms are also key. Clear limits and requirements build trust. These standards are essential for player protection and a fair, sustainable industry. Has anyone seen operators implement all of these successfully?

i will also add a few points.

Casino deposit bonuses these days are so bad, it's outrageous.

Every single casino that offers these bonuses have the "Max winnings cap of 100-500 euros". And usually it's like 50-100 euros for bonuses with no deposit. And the best part - most of the casinos do not mention about the max winnings cap of the bonus.

Now here's an example : I get a 25 euro bonus, which I have to use it to play 2000+ euros in order to wager the bonus. And then, once you finish it, let's say i have 300 euros left - it decreases to 100, because it reached bonus limit.

So what is the point of casino bonuses then?

I remember one stream from LGIAS, where Hampus had over 100k balance at one point, which was the bonus money. And when he wagered, he lost all money, which was above 100k. But cmon, this is 100k and not 100 euros.

Next - casino policies. Most of the casinos let's you create an account in 1-2 minutes, deposit money instantly. So within a few minutes you are able to gamble in a new casino. But then if you need to withdraw - here comes the KYC.

Why can't casinos ask for KYC, when you are registering? Because many people register, play, lose money, and when they win, they want to withdraw it - they can't. Then the casino will say - you are playing from unsupported country, using VPN, etc. And it ends up, that players do not receive their money. KYC should be mandatory, when you are registering to a casino (doesn't matter if it's crypto, or not).

Next - games RTP.

Most games come out with like 96,5% RTP, however most of the casinos have them at like 90-93%. This is also draining a lot of money.

All in all it's very difficult to find a casino, which is fair on every single point, I mentioned. Also, the casino must support your country, otherwise it will not work.

Interesting points, and honestly this is exactly why I’ve gravitated toward Lottoland over the last while. From my experience, they feel closer to where the industry should be heading in 2025. Withdrawals have been clear and predictable, the process is transparent, and responsible gaming tools are actually easy to find and use, not buried in menus. I also appreciate that the terms are straightforward and not loaded with hidden catches. It’s not perfect anywhere, but platforms like Lottoland show that faster processing, clearer rules, and better player protection are realistic goals, not just theory. If more operators followed that model, trust in online casinos would improve a lot.
