And I’m a compulsive gambler, my last bet was 14th April 2007.

First thing, I’m not anti gambling or industry, I’m just a guy sharing my story of being a addict, I go live on YouTube every Sunday at 8pm trying to help others, and open a discussion on the live comments, this is to try and show there is help and hope.

This is a link to my story initial story which I posted in May 2016. Feel free to contact me either on here or on my Twitter @baronmad79 in private or public, I’ll always reply. Happy to chat and answer questions

Hi Andy, I recently (6 months ago) admitted to myself that i have a serious gambling problem, and its because of videos like yours that i have recognized this and have began to change my lifestyle, i found out that 9 times out of 10 i gambled because i was bored or had nothing to do, and to counter this i joined the gym, became a member of my local golf club, and over the last 6 months since my change i have saved so much money, my gambling is just purely for fun now, limited myself to £400 a month deposit limit on Casumo (other casinos available). I feel that totally cutting off gambling for myself would be the wrong choice tho, i do gain fun out of it now which is great, i never chase loses like in previous occasions.

I do feel that living in the UK the amount of betting adverts and casino adverts is disgusting, if you watch a football match during the break the amount of betting ad's is crazy and for people trying to give up gambling, it must be a nightmare, I am happy with the FOBT changes but i feel that adverts in the UK have to be stopped or limited by law on how many can be shown in a certain amount of time.

just wondering on your view living in the UK and gambling, and a question for people living in the EU does your country show countless gambling ad's and did it have a effect on you gambling, also want to know if you started gambling because you seen it on a stream or like me it kinda helped me control myself by watching other people gamble.

Just curious cheers all.

Hi

First of all well done on admitting to yourself that you might be getting out of control, as you say, gambling should be about fun.

For me, adverts will change and go the way of smoking in the coming years.

Gambling is normalised in the UK, the day the national Lottery came in did that I think. People saw an opportunity to change their lifestyle forever.

With regard FOBTS, I was never for or against the cut, as I think it was a faux argument between two parts of the gambling industry. I will say it raised awareness of gambling addiction at least, so I applaud that.

Gambling industry are slowly getting there with regards responsibilities etc..... but.....

We can have all these fantastic barriers, interventions and treatments etc, but ultimately, taking personal responsibility and accepting its down to us the individual, to stop or control themselves. I’m not a victim.
