The fact people use fake money is not so much of a concern to me, I think that misses a bigger issue about streaming, be it on twitch or uploaded videos on youtube.
Everybody who plays slots machines will lose. The depth of those losses depends on control or addiction. All RTPs are in the 90s. you will lose . you always will. Its the most basic maths. they are spelling it out for you. (the only way you could ever win long term would be to hit a massive progressive which in turn lowers your RTP.)
But that isnt to say you shouldnt play slots. people enjoy the buzz, it helps some people wind down. The streaming of slots also helps people who are addicted as they can watch without losing money.
My problem is that some twitch streamers or people who upload their videos on youtube will mislead you in a way. Either by saying they are up or maybe showing you how they went from £100 to £5k. How many £100 deposits did they make to get that hit, that they then upload?
People will watch these videos and think "i could do that" and maybe you could but how long to get there? and how long before you lose that and try again?
Most streamers will have a big bankroll to go to war with and can take a hit and anything like this is private. people can do as they choose with their own money. but I think there is a moral obligtion to be honest with where you stand financially from your streams that are viewed by the public.
Whenever i see streamers posting winnings from offline streams then that raises an eyebrow for me
There are a lot of contentious issues. eg why should anyone show how much they win or loss from streaming? but I think if you are benefitting from deposit bonuses or anything else a casino may offer you to stream from their site, then you are being used as a vehicle to encourage other people to join that site. Thats what these bonuses are about. Then I think it is a moral obligation.
Two streamers I would like to single out as a being what I would consider responsible are letsgiveitasin and the bandit. I know neither of these people. In fact I know nobdy on here. Thebandit is extremely candid about his losses and seems to always start a stream either with a new balance or continues off from where he last played. He will usually spend a couple of minutes at the start of the video explaining the situation. And Letsgiveitaspin similarly.
How the issue of fake money has blinded bigger issues almost seems to be like strutting peacocks. People using fake money for streams are sad and pathetic, there is no real issue other than that. youve been caught out, big deal. They'll do something else.
The biggest issue is the misconception that with a bit of luck you too could win big. consistently. Its not poker, its slot machines
