Video Slot Review – Book of the Ages Slot - Gamomat
Welcome to the realm of the Dracula, welcome to Book of the Ages. This five reel, three-row video-slot from Gamomat comes with mechanics inspired by other “book of” series from Novomatic. This time, we are taken into Dracula's study and find books, potions and a skull in the background.
This slot comes with high volatility, an RTP of 96% and 20 ways to win. We find the classic expanding symbols during the bonus rounds, in addition to scattering wilds, and re-spins.
Design and Symbols
The highest paying symbol of the slot game is Dracula himself, whereas the lower paying symbols are the J- A. The book symbols are actually scattering wilds in the sense that if any two land on your reel, they will pay no matter where they land and they also act as wild symbols. The book symbol is also Book of the Ages’ gateway to free spins; land three on your reel and get 10 free spins.
One of the best things about the special features in Book of the Ages is that although they are not triggered often, once they are you should win a decent amount of cash. If you have ever played any other ‘Book of’ slot games, then you know how the special features go.

Three scatters popping up anywhere on your reel will award you 10 free spins. A random symbol will be chosen right before the round of spins start as expanding symbols. For the duration of the free spins, whenever two or three of the chosen symbol show up on your reel, these will expand, covering the whole reel and award better wins. If the randomly chosen symbol forms part of the higher paying ones, then only two need to show up to expand; if it forms part of the lower paying symbols, three need to show up for the symbols to expand. 10 re-spins can be re-triggered as long as three more books show up on your reel during the free spins feature.
An interesting observation about the gamble feature in Book of the Ages is that there are two to choose from. The most obvious one is the 1:2 card colour. Guess correctly and double your winnings. Guess incorrectly and forfeit all your winnings. The gamble feature is not available to you if you are playing on autoplay.
There is another gamble option called Ladder gamble, where you press the ladder symbol in hopes of landing on the upper number as opposed to the lower. You can either keep gambling until you win or until you lose everything; otherwise, you can just collect your winnings and keep on playing the base game.
Reviewer's Thoughts on Book of the Ages Slot
Despite taking on an insanely popular theme, we have to admit that the free spins round took an awfully long time to trigger. Think of Book of Dead but with a lesser variance, different characters and an extra gamble feature; that is basically Book of the Ages for you. Having said that, all the expectations that we set were met. We only managed to get to the free spins round once ourselves, so make sure to record your spins and post your wins on our forum.
