Design & Symbols
The design of Xploding Pumpkins is cartoonlike and fun, with brightly coloured fruit symbols, some bearing evidence of some spooky characteristics; half a watermelon with a leg bone sticking out of it, a bunch of grapes dripping with purple slime, a heavily bandaged red seven dripping with blood. And of course the pumpkin itself; carved into a Jack-O-Lantern with a wide one-toothed smile revealing a mouthful of brightly coloured fireworks and engulfed in green and yellow flames. Behind the reels is a static creepy cartoon scene which could have been taken straight out of an episode of Scooby-Doo. The night sky is illuminated by a huge full moon at the top right, with a group of vampire bats flying by. To the right is the silhouette of barren tree branches and to the right, you can make out a cross-shaped gravestone.
Low-value symbols are cherries, lemons, oranges, and plums. High-value symbols are grapes, watermelons, and red sevens. The red seven is the most valuable symbol, with 5 across a payline awarding 100x the bet size. The pumpkin is the wild and as there is no bonus round, there is no scatter.

- Gamble Feature
Exploding Pumpkin Wilds
The pumpkin symbol appears on reels 1-3 only. Upon landing, the pumpkin symbol and all symbols around it explode and transform into wilds. Landing a pumpkin in the centre of reel 3, therefore, turns the entirely of reels 2-4 wild, whereas landing a pumpkin at the top of reel 1 only transforms the first two symbols of rows 1 and 2 wild.
As with other Gamomat games you have the option to gamble your winnings. There are two gamble options; the ladder or the cards. Choose the ladder and it is a simple ladder with each rung increasing in value as you gamble your way up. Lose and your winnings drop down the ladder. Choose the card option and it’s a straight pick between black or red using a regular deck of 52 cards. In both instances, you can take your winnings at any point, or alternatively, you can choose to take half of your winnings and continue to gamble with the other half until you either reach the top of the ladder/card gamble or you lose your winnings. However, this feature will only really appeal to those playing at the low-medium betting range as regardless of the bet size, the maximum win is €150.
Our Thoughts on Xploding Pumpkins
Frankly, there isn’t much to say about exploding pumpkins as it is so little to it; no bonus round, no multipliers, no interactive base game features, and no particular innovations. Everything about this game is basic with static imagery, no animations, and limited potential. That being said there are those out there who like to keep it simple, so the classic fruity symbols and the no-frills gameplay might just appeal to some people. I don’t know any of them myself, but there must be some?
