Testament by Play'N Go released on 43902 is a 5-reel & 3-row online slot with 2400 Ways to Winand a 96.20% RTP. This is a Rock-themed game offering players a max win of up to 20,000x their stake. Testament can be played on all devices from €0.10 to €100 per spin and is considered a high volatility video slot.
Set for release on 12th March 2020, Testament is Play’n GO’s third slot based on a real-life heavy metal band following on from last year’s Sabaton and Demon. As with its predecessors, Testament the slot is as volatile as the band’s music.
The Californian 5-piece have been pumping out thrash metal tunes since the early ’80s and are considered one of the ‘big eight’ of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Overkill, and Death Angel. And now they’re set to become one of the ‘big three’ of Play’n GO’s rock slot portfolio.
Testament plays on a 5x3 reel set with 243 ways to pay which expands up to 4x5x6x5x4 and 2,400 ways to pay during certain features. It comes with an RTP of 96.2%, a 10/10 volatility rating and a max win of 20,000x the bet.
As with the previous rock band slots, Testament comes with a selection of features, the most valuable of which is the scatter triggered Rise up Free Spins and, ultimately, Testament Free Spins.
You can play Testament from 12/03/2020 from €0.10 to €100 a spin.
Design & Symbols
Play’n Go has done a superb job on the visuals for Testament. The action is set inside some kind of demonic temple with stone, horned skull sculptures on the walls and at the top of two sweeping staircases either side of the entrance to a crypt. Fog swirls around the floor of the temple, and the gameplay is accompanied by a selection of Testament’s hits.
Low-value symbols are the standard royal card values 10-A. High-value symbols are a shield and swords, a horned demon on a throne, a scary-looking green dragon, a vampire, and a horned skull. The horned skull is the biggest paying regular symbol with 5 on a pay line awarding 12.5x the bet size. This symbol also has the ability to turn wild on any base game spin and turns wild on every bonus game spin. The actual wild is scaly horned character with red eyes and a long, snaking tongue. 5 wilds across a pay line award 15x the bet size. The scatter is represented by the image from the band’s Dark Roots of Earth album cover. Land 5 scatters and as well as triggering the main feature you’ll win 20x the bet size.
- Song Features
- Rise Up Free Spins
- Testament Free Spins
2 scatters are all that’s needed to trigger one of three ‘Song Features’. For each song feature 3 free spins are awarded as well as a simple reel modifier designed to significantly increase one’s chances of making a winning combo;
- Cold Embrace: Any wild landing is locked in place for the duration of the free spins
- Dark Roots of Earth: Wilds spread up and down the reel on which they land
- Throne of thorns: The reels expand to the 2,400 ways to win 4x5x6x5x4 set up for the 3 spins
Rise Up Free Spins
3 or more scatters trigger 9 Rise Up Free Spins. During Rise Up Free Spins the 4x5x6x5x4 board is in play. However, the additional 9 symbol spaces which separate it from the standard 5x3 board are covered in blockers. A scatter landing on a reel unlocks any blocker on that reel which then remain open for the duration of the bonus round. Furthermore, the horned skull symbol acts as an additional wild throughout free spins.
Testament Free Spins
Destroy all 9 blockers during Rise Up Free Spins to activate Testament Free Spins. An additional 3 spins are awarded and from here on in the spins are played with all three song features active. So not only are you playing on the 2,400 ways to win board but also all wild are sticky and expanded up or down on the reels. This is where the big money lies.
Our Thoughts on Testament
Once again Play’n Go has produced a belter of a rock slot. The graphics, soundtrack (obviously), features, and potential are all top-notch. As you would expect from a slot paying homage to the thrash metal genre, this slot is as demonic and volatile as they come. With regards to this make sure to practice good bankroll management as I can testify that Testament can fleece you in a heartbeat if you play beyond your means. However, playing at a comfortable level should see you through enough spins to land some decent, and possibly huge, winning features.
As with a Testament album, caution is advisable, but you can expect a couple of cracking hits if you stick with it long enough.
