Razor Shark Slot
The Razor Shark slot from Push Gaming is an underwater-themed video slot with plenty of bites. With wins of up to 50,000x the bet size up for grabs, this might be Push’s most volatile (and potentially most profitable) offering to date.
The Razor Shark slot plays a 5x4 reel set with 20 fixed pay lines and comes with an RTP of 96.7%. Base game wins are enhanced by a Mystery Stacks feature which spawns a series of potentially lucrative featurettes. There is also a scatter triggered free games round. With increasing win multipliers and potentially unlimited free games this is where Razor Shark can really pay off.
Available at participating Push Gaming Casinos from 3rd September 2019, Razor Shark can be played from €0.10 to €100 per spin.
Design & Symbols
Design-wise there is an immediate resemblance to Push’s 2018 favourite, the Tiki Tumble Slot. Not so much in the artwork, but the gameboard itself and the reel mechanics. However, despite some obvious similarities, Razor Shark is very much its own game. As ever, Push has delivered the goods when it comes to the artwork with a wonderfully animated underwater scene. Brightly coloured coral, starfish, anemones, tube sponges and tropical fish sway and distort with the currents of the sea. The almost square gameboard sits on a stone plinth, framed by another thin layer of stone. The gameplay is accompanied by a hypnotic backing track which wouldn’t be out of place as incidental music from a mid-80’s high concept suspense thriller.
Low-value symbols are represented by oxygen tanks, flippers, a snorkel and mask, and an underwater camera. The high-value symbols are blue, green, purple, and orange sharks. The orange shark is the most valuable regular symbol, with 5 across a pay line awarding 25x the bet size. All symbols come stacked on all reels. The wild is a menacing looking Great White Shark which is also the highest paying symbol of all with 5 on a pay line worth 50x the bet. The scatter symbol is a ticking sea mine. There is also a ‘Mystery Stack’ of underwater foliage which comes in stacks of four.
The Mystery Stacks trigger the Nudge and Reveal feature which in turn can trigger the Razor Reveal feature. Scatters trigger the Free Games feature.
Nudge and Reveal
When a Mystery Stack lands on the board the ‘Nudge and Reveal’ feature is activated whereby the Mystery symbols will reveal either matching regular symbols, or Golden Shark symbols. If regular symbols are revealed, any win created will be paid out. Thereafter the reels with Mystery Stacks will nudge down one at a time, revealing new matching symbols on each nudge until they either reveal Golden Sharks or disappear from view. With each nudge of the Mystery Stacks, the other reels spin.
Razor Reveal activates upon Mystery Stack symbols revealing Golden Sharks. Each Mystery Symbol will then spin an eventually reveal either a bet multiplier (win) of between 1x and 2,500x or a scatter symbol
Three or more scatters trigger Razor Shark’s Free Games Feature. Free games begin with Mystery Stacks covering reels 2 and 4, which immediately triggers the Nudge and Reveal feature. Free Games end when the last Mystery Symbol falls out of view. During free games, Mystery Stacks landing on other reels extend the feature and may continue to extend it indefinitely. With each nudge of the Mystery Stacks, a 1x win multiplier is added. The current win multiplier is shown on a meter to the right of the gameboard.
Our Thoughts on The Razor Shark Slot
Push Gaming has built its reputation on great looking games with high volatility and great potential. The Razor Shark slot happily only adds to that reputation. There really is a pot of gold waiting for whoever catches the right side of variance on this slot. However, there will be many more who will fall on the wrong side, so part with your coin at your own peril because in order to make those huge paydays happen, Razor Shark will first tear a few bankrolls to pieces.
