Pink Elephants 2 is exactly the kind of whimsical and weird slot people need right now, making sure you can let your mind escape to a completely different universe entirely. Thunderkick is the developer behind this slot, which of course is the sequel to their Pink Elephants slot released back in 2017. The first one became a popular game, meaning expectations are pretty high for his follow up. This time around, Thunderkick has made a couple of changes to the design and looks of the game and the numbers have also certainly changed.

Special Features

Unfortunately, we find ourselves slightly disappointed by the special features in Pink Elephants 2. None of them seems to really stand out, however, there is, of course, the Bonus Game feature which will get you some free spins. And everyone loves free spins, right? There is also the Mystery Scatter feature which is randomly triggered and the two special symbols.

Bonus Game

Pink Elephants 2 Free Spins Round

For the Bonus Game to be triggered, you will need to land 3, 4, 5 or 6 scatter symbols. You will then be rewarded with 7, 11, 15 or 19 free spins respectively. Should you land 2 or more scatter during the Bonus Round, you will also be rewarded with additional free spins, meaning this feature can keep ongoing for a while.

During this Bonus Round, you will be aiming to fill up the meter shown on the left side of the screen, which you will be doing by collecting symbols. When you have managed to fill up all of the meters with their corresponding symbol, then the meter will be transformed into the next level symbol. When you have collected all of these symbols, they will all be transformed into the pink elephant symbol for the remainder of the Bonus Game, meaning you will be able to get some big wins here.

Each time you fill-up the meter, you will also be rewarded with yet an extra free spin.

Scatters and Wilds

There are two different special symbols in this slot. The wild symbol shows a “W” in pink, placed within a golden frame. It has the ability to substitute all other symbols in the game apart from the scatter. The scatter symbol, funnily enough, is represented by a golden peanut. Should you land 3 or more of these during the base game, you will trigger the Bonus Game. In the Bonus Game, landing 2 or more of them will reward you with extra free spins.

Mystery Scatter Feature

This Mystery Scatter Feature can be triggered at any time during the game. It will be activated randomly while you are spinning the reels during the base game. This will cause up to 5 scatters to land on the reels during the base game, which in return will increase your chances of unlocking the Bonus Game.

Design and Symbols

Pink Elephants 2 main image

Pink Elephants 2 has certainly gotten an upgrade in terms of looks, as this time the reel set has been placed somewhere high up in the mountains. Clear blue skies light up the slot along with green grass and snow-capped mountains, making us feel like the slot is set in an other-worldly Sound of Music sort of place. The reel set itself seems to just float above the ground, with not much other than some vague cloud-like squares framing the different symbols. In the background you will be hearing some peaceful, almost meditative music playing, slightly bringing up the pace when spinning the reels.

The symbols of the game include a total of 6 low-value symbols, which unfortunately have simply been designed using the standard card suits. We would really have liked to see these as customized symbols, especially since there are so many of them. The 9, 10, J, Q, K and A are placed on some rocks. Replacing the lemurs, this time there is a bunch of goats representing the high-value symbols. A blue, green, orange and purple goat is on each their symbol, which fit the mountainous setting perfectly. Then we have the pink elephant as the highest paying symbol, giving you 10x your total stake for six of them.

There are two special symbols in play here. A wild symbol shows a pink “W” inside a golden frame and will, as usual, be replacing any other symbols on the reels, with the exception being the scatter. The scatter symbol shows a golden coin with a peanut printed on it and will be able to trigger the Bonus Game.

Our Thoughts on Pink Elephants 2

Pink Elephants 2 is certainly no game-changing slot just like the first release was, but there is no doubt that Thunderkick has taken the first game and made sure they have improved anything that could have been improved. In other words, this is a fun slot to play and we are sure there will be plenty of fans out there who will appreciate this sequel. They have given the slot a new look and setting as well as a couple of other adjustments.

At the same time the volatility of the slot has been lowered (just slightly), while the maximum win potential has been increased to 10 000x your total bet from 8 200x in the original. This is yet another perfect example of the minor adjustments that have been made in the game, small but definitely noticeable. What is most disappointing to us is the lack of special features in the game. Even though there is the Bonus Game involving free spins, there could have been done so much more to really make use of the pink elephant theme of the slot. All in all an enjoyable slot.
