How to win big in Miner Donkey Trouble – Free Spins
Land 3 dynamite scatters during a single round to trigger free spins. As this is a cluster pays slot with a cascade mechanic, a single ‘spin’ or round can last for some time, so the scatters do not all need to appear on the exact same drop but over the course of a single credit. Each time a dynamite scatter lands it explodes to remove all regular symbols surrounding it. It also releases 2 Diamond Wilds onto the board.
When triggered, 5 free spins are awarded. During the round leading up to free spins it is likely you will have built up a win multiplier. This is carried over into free spins and, unlike during the base game, the multiplier never resets during free spins. Three further dynamites landing during free spins retriggers the feature with 5 more spin. Free spins are capable of retriggering up to a maximum of 20 spins in total.
All base game features are in play throughout free spins.
- Cluster & Cascade Mechanic
- Golden Nuggets
- Random Mega Symbols
- Donkey Destruction
- Pickaxe Wilds
Miner Donkey Trouble comes with a slate of extra features which feed off one another and which are facilitated by the cluster wins and cascade mechanic. 5 or more matching adjacent symbols connected vertically or horizontally constitutes a winning cluster. Winning clusters disappear from the 5x7 grid and are replaced by symbols cascading from above. Any new winning clusters formed from the cascade also disappear and so the cycle continues until no new wins are created.
Among the symbols are Golden Nuggets. These do not form wins. However, upon reaching the bottom row they leap into the multiplier basket to the right of the grid and increase the win multiplier for all future wins in that game by 1x. When a base game spin ends, the multiplier resets. The multiplier does not reset during free spins.
The random regular mega symbol feature can activate on any spin where 1 or 2 mega symbols, 2x2 and 4x4 in size are placed on the board.
The Donkey Destruction feature is fuelled by winning clusters. Consecutive winning clusters adding up to 18 symbols feed the donkey a carrot. Make it to 40 total clustered symbols and another carrot is added to the donkey’s dinner. If you make it to 50 then a third carrot is earned. Each carrot helps continue the spin and also to find Golden Nuggets to increase the multiplier as follows:
While eating the first carrot the donkey kicks the grid, removing all low value rock symbols The second carrot fuelled kick removes all regular symbols from the board The third kick removes all regular symbols and guarantees at least 5 golden nuggets.
Although the third kick is the only Donkey Destruction to guarantee Golden Nuggets to increase the multiplier, Golden Nuggets on the board may fall to the bottom on any of the 3 kicks.
The final feature, Pickaxe Wilds, is triggered by the appearance of the pickaxe symbol anywhere on the reels. At the conclusion of a spin, the pickaxe makes its way over to the miner to the right of the grid. He then throws between 4-10 Diamond Wilds onto the board.
Look and Feel of Miner Donkey Trouble
Miner Donkey Trouble looks fantastic. It is somewhat similar to others in the genre (Diamond Mine Megaways comes to mind) with the dungaree and cowboy hat wearing old miner with interesting facial hair. However, the attention to detail here is superb. Play’n GO’s art team have created a wonderfully constructed underground mine with wooden beam supports, hanging lanterns, rickety ladders, ropes, chutes, and a rail track running down the centre. The stone framed reel set is backed in slate and is filled with coloured rock and gem symbols alongside the special symbols. The adversarial miner and his angry donkey stand either side of the grid. All the action is accompanied by a twangy banjo riff. Clusters are paid incrementally from 5 up to a maximum of 18 or more. The highest paying symbol is the red gem which pays 250x the bet size (without multipliers) for a cluster of 18 or more matching, adjacent symbols. See the full paytable below (based on a €1 bet).
The game is a delight to play. Although you can sit through a lengthy dead spell if you’re unlucky, get on a roll and feature upon feature add layers on top of one another as you hopefully make your way towards free spins and a high multiplier. There is so much going on there is no time to get bored. With high variance, a 10,000x max win, and some rapid paced action this is a superb start to the year from Play’n GO.
