How to Win Big in Megaways Respin – Free Spins
4, 5, or 6 scatter symbols triggers 15, 20, or 25 free spins. During free spins, a small robot containing a one-arm bandit stands to the bottom right of the gameboard. The robot’s 3 reels spin during each free spin with the reels containing win multipliers or blanks. At the end of each spin any multipliers from the robot spin are added to the game’s win multiplier. The win multiplier doesn’t reset during free spins. 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters landing during free spins add 5, 15, 20, or 25 additional free spins. A maximum of 99 free spins are available.
Finish the bonus round with a win of less than 10x and you are awarded a full retrigger.
Special Features
- Megaways up to 117,649 Ways to Win
- Buy a Respin
- Buy a Bonus
For those unfamiliar with Megaways slots, the number of paylines, or in this case ‘Megaways’, changes every spin. Each of the 6 reels contains between 2 and 7 symbols, and that number changes on all reels every spin. The maximum number of Megaways occurs when all 6 reels land 7 symbols. As winning combinations are formed by 3 or more identical symbols on adjacent reels from the leftmost reel, the highest number of Megaways is 7x7x7x7x7x7, or 117,649.
Those familiar with Microgaming’s Hyperspins feature will understand the Buy a Respin concept straight away. During the base game it is possible to spin a single reel while the remaining 5 reels are held in place. However, one must pay to spin a reel. The cost of any given reel depends on its inherent value. For example, if all reels except reel 3 contain lots (for example) Aces, then the cost to respin reel 3 will be set relatively high as it gives you the opportunity to spin for an Ace to complete a big win. Similarly, if there are bonus symbols are on reels 1, 2, and 4, then the cost to respin reels 3, 5, and 6 will be high compared to the other reels. Note, this feature is not available in free spins.
Those wishing to forgo the base game and to skip straight to the bonus game are able to utilise the Bonus Buy button. The cost to enter the bonus game is 100x the chosen stake. This feature is not available to UK players.
Look and Feel of Megaways Respins
Megaways Respins is a fairly generic looking game. The slightly cartoony Vegas theme seems more of an afterthought than being part of any particular narrative. That’s not to say this is a bad slot, and its good to see Games Inc continuing to try new things with their Megaways license.
The game suffers a little from a lack of cascading symbols, meaning that reaction wins aren’t an option. However, the buy a respin feature will please those who have enjoyed Microgaming’s Hyperspins slots. This is probably not one for the more risk-averse players among you.
Low symbols are the card values 9-A with coloured gems for the highs. The highest value diamond symbol pays 50x the bet size for 6 on adjacent reels. See the paytable below for all symbol values. To convert to the € value, divide the attributed number by 100.
The image above displays the high paying symbols and the image below displays the lowest paying symbols on the reels.
Megaways Respin is not a bad game, and there is certainly potential there. There are also a couple of interesting features. However, there seems to be something a little lacking here. Nothing is particularly bad, but nothing stands out as particularly good. It’s worth a punt, but its nothing to get excited about.
