Design and Symbols
It’s not often we see launches like Kaiju. The slot is simply a work of art. Engaging characters, a fun storyline, like the “Human Android 42”, the different Kaiju you must beat during the free-spins and the symbols themselves adds up to make this slot one of my absolute favourite releases this quarter.
You will not find 40 different special features in Kaiju. What you will find is the all familiar Wilds with a twist, and the first slot from ELK to introduce expanding reels. The expanding reels are only available during the bonus game.
In Kaiju, it's all about the vertical lasers, which play an important part during the base game by granting wilds, and during the free spins rounds as a part of the "Kaiju Battle".
Vertical Lasers During Base Game
During the main game, three or more of the same symbol connected on one reel will activate the Vertical laser effectively granting a wild symbol on top of the reels. Enabling bigger wins for that round.
The Bonus Game is called the Kaiju Battle bonus game, where you will take over the role as Human Android 42, and battle one of the monsters head-on! The Vertical laser works almost in the same way during the bonus game as during the main game. The only difference is during the bonus game, the laser will not only grant wild symbols but also extend the reels enabling up to 7776 ways to win. The goal is to expand the reels to cover the different hot-spots for each of the three different Kaiju during the battle. – As soon as all hot spots have been covered, the monster is defeated and the big prizes come knocking. The more reels expanded, the more win-lines are enabled.
Reviewers' Thoughts on Kaiju
If you have read the review, it's clear we were a fan of the design and story around this slot. Now, this is a slightly high volatility slot, and you might expect to play some rounds before you hit any significant prizes. That said, when you fill up those reels during the bonus game your balance tends to get a nice boost. We really enjoyed testing this slot from ELK studios, and we're quite curious to see what they come up with next.
