Design and Symbols

Gangster Paradise is a smart looking slot with slick looking graphics, similar in look and feel to another of their recent releases, Great Gambini’s Night Magic.

A gangster’s moll wearing a blood-red evening dress stands elegantly to the left of the gameboard while a gun-toting mobster in a three-piece suit, overcoat and fedora stands menacingly to the right. Set at night, neon signs illuminate the buildings either side of the street advertising casinos, theatres, and cinemas. Cops, guns, diamonds, gangster, and seductresses also make an appearance, filling the reels as the game's symbols.

Low value symbols are the standard 9-A royals. Medium value symbols are by the gangster’s car, an undercover cop, the gangster’s moll, and the gangster himself. The gangster is actually the highest paying regular symbol with 5 on a payline paying 12x the stake. The highest value symbols are wilds and scatters, which pay 20x and 25x the stake for 5 of a kind. The wild is a loaded gun chamber while the scatter symbol is a police badge.

Special Features

Gangster Paradise Free Spins

Free spins are triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols for 7, 10, or 15 free spins respectively. Hitting 5 scatters not only awards the most free spins but also the highest line win of 25x the stake. 5 additional free spins are triggered whenever 2 scatters land during the bonus round.

A key component of the free spin round is the transformation of stacked symbols into stacked wilds. Any full reel of identical symbols will transform into a wild reel, thus increasing exponentially the possibilities of landing a decent win. Landing 5 stacked reels will transform into 5 stacked wilds and pay the game’s jackpot of 500x the stake.

Our Thoughts on Gangster Paradise

Although this is another visually impressive slot from Greentube, it’s certainly not their best. I prefer Novomatic’s 2006 gangster effort, ‘Chicago’ as it offers more potential with a max win of 5,000 the stake. With a max win of just 500x Gangster Paradise isn’t a game which is going to attract too much attention from hardcore slot enthusiasts.

Also, its lack of features won’t necessarily endear it to the recreational or transient players. Playing this game is all about simply surviving the base game and waiting patiently to get into the bonus round. It’s not a terrible slot, however, and the free spin round can be fun, especially if you manage a few re-triggers which seems very possible from our experience. The stacked wilds also hit quite frequently meaning that although you’re unlikely to scoop a huge win, the free spins almost always deliver a decent payback.
