Atlantis Megaways, as the title suggests, is inspired by the legendary, ancient, sunken city. Visually stunning, this underwater feast for the eyes uses the popular Megaways engine with the 117,649 ways to win set-up; 6 reels, each capable of spinning in up to 7 symbols per reel. The base game uses the standard cascading reels with reaction wins. Big wins come from a Jackpot Respins round where cash values, including 4 Jackpots, can be won. Surprisingly, there is no free spins round, although wins of up to 8,641x are possible from this mid-variance slot from Aussie provider, ReelPlay.

How to Win Big in Atlantis Megaways – Jackpot Respins
Land 6 treasure chest scatters to activate the game’s bonus feature, Jackpot Respins. Each treasure chest comes with a cash value of between 1x and 100x the bet size. Three respins are awarded, during which only treasure chests, blanks, or oysters containing pearls. The oyster symbols are called Pearl Jackpots and contain one of the game’s four jackpots of either 10x (mini), 50x (minor), 250x (major) or 2,000x (grand). Respins reset to 3 whenever a spin brings in a winning symbol. Three blank spins in a row ends the bonus round. It is possible to land multiplier mini or minor Pearl Jackpots. The major and grand Pearl Jackpots, however, can only land once in a single bonus feature.
- Megaways up to 117,649 ways to win
- Cascades with Reaction Wins
For those unfamiliar with Megaways slots, the number of paylines, or in this case ‘Megaways’, changes every spin. Each of the 6 reels contains between 2 and 7 symbols, and that number changes on all reels every spin. The maximum number of Megaways occurs when all 6 reels land 7 symbols. As winning combinations are formed by 3 or more identical symbols on adjacent reels from the leftmost reel, the highest number of Megaways is 7x7x7x7x7x7, or 117,649.
Symbols cascade onto the reels rather than spin. After a win is added to your balance, the winning symbols disappear to be replaced by symbols cascading from above. A winning combo caused by this cascade is called a reaction win. Reaction wins continue until no new winning combo is formed, after which the spin ends.
Look and Feel of Atlantis Megaways
Atlantis Megaways is unquestionably one of the most aesthetically pleasing slots we’ve seen for a while. The subterranean world the art department at ReelPlay has created is superb. The ruins, buildings, statues, colourful plants, and animations are spellbinding. The game itself is a little less awe-inspiring. It’s not that there is anything terribly wrong with it, it is just a little lacklustre when compared with other Megaways titles, and it desperately misses that free spins round. The Jackpot Respins can be rewarding of course, but it lacks the excitement of an increasing win multiplier. Also, eagle-eyed fans will quickly realise that this game is, in fact, just a clone of ReelPlay’s Hypernova Megaways – albeit a much better looking one.
In terms of symbols, they all look rather splendid too and include seaweed surrounding royals 10-A for the lows. The highs consist of lionfish, seahorse, octopus, and dolphins, with Poseidon as the highest value symbol. The values of all symbols can be seen below where the numbers shown represent multiples of the bet size.
Other than the paying symbols and the scatter, there is also a wild which substitutes for all symbols with the exception of the scatter. The wild, which is represented by a Greek temple, only appears on the top, horizontal row.
If only Atlantis Megaways played as good as it looked, now that would be a slot to get excited about.
