New Slot Review – Play ‘N Go - House of Doom
Rejoice, metalheads! Today we’re looking at the latest release from Play ‘N Go - House of Doom.
This is the result of a collaboration between the developer and the doom-metal behemoth Candlemass. If you familiar with the metal scene, you’ve heard their productions. Candlemass has been a huge inspiration for several bands since the early 80s and is still going strong!
House of Doom is a five-reel video slot, with three rows of symbols, and ten winning lines. In regard to special features, we find Hellgate, Skulls of the abyss, Wild House of Doom, and the Doom Spin. We’ll go through them in detail below.
The symbols are all well designed, all which remind us of the overhanging theme. - We find symbols like skulls, pentagrams, and crosses. The font used on the card face symbols are also true to the theme.
The background music is very well produced, and it’s clear Candlemass has had a finger or two in play here. The spins give this guitar riff sound every time you get a winning, which might not be 100% necessary though.
Usually, when we look at these heavily themed slots from collaborations similar to the one we have in House of Doom, there are little special features to find. In this game, that is not the case at all! House of Doom holds several special features, popping up both during the normal game and free spins.
The Seer Symbols
Doom spin is the free-spin trigger in House of Doom.
- Get three House of Doom Symbols on the reels to activate Doom Spins
- The House of Doom symbol will act as a wild during the free-spins
- Three or more house of doom symbols during your free spin will grant one extra spin per symbol.
Skulls of Abyss
House of Doom also has a picking game, where you gather skulls granting multiplier on your original stake. You can pick skulls until you hit one of the end symbols.
- 1x, 2x, and 3x grants you another pick
- 5x, 20x and House of Doom symbol will end the bonus game, and you will be sent back to the reels with your accumulated earnings.
Every single spin will have a Hellgate reel. The Hellgate reel will expand any Wild Symbol that lands there.
- During the bonus rounds, you will have between two and five Hellgate reels.
- Both the standard wild and the house of doom wild will expand when landing on the reels.
Our thoughts on House of Doom
If you’ve read my previous reviews, you have probably noticed my inclination towards fantasy themed games. Now I’m not just a fantasy fan, but was a metalhead back in the day as well! So I’ve been trying to stay as unbiased as possible here….
I love this game! It’s fun to see a slot for us jester heads in the midst all these happy-go-lucky slots in the online casino world. The game is very playable, and with a constant bonus feature during the main game, you’re always on the edge hoping to fill that reel with a wild.
Will I play this slot again? Yes! Definitely. I love it.
