New Slot - Full Review – Netent - Hotline
Bring out your tightest jeans and Pilots for the latest launch from Netent - Hotline. Prepare for some fun and games at launch on the 22nd of March 2018! This Retrofantastic slot takes the 80’s Miami Vice mood straight into your device. Hotline is a five reel video slot, with three rows of symbols. Special features you find are Wilds and Scatter symbols and the Hotlines that you can activate on all three rows.
Design and Symbols
The design of Hotline is good. - You will meet detective Quinn, who’s trying to catch the notorious femme fatale and thief Kitti Weiss.
The Higher paying symbols in the game are the main characters themselves. The lower paying symbols are jewelry and gems Miss Kitti Weiss has acquired throughout her career as a master thief.
For the sound in Hotline, I have to say the music is spot-on for the theme, and I’m taken back to the merry 80s straight away.
Scatter symbols, Wilds, and Hotlines is what you will find in this latest addition from Netent. The Wilds can expand, but only when landing on one of the hotlines you have enabled.
The main and most innovative feature in this game must be the Hotlines which you can activate on the left-hand side of the reels.
Any Wild symbol landing inside an activated hotline, will expand, and trigger a re-spin.
- One Hotline is active by default.
- When two hotlines are activated, the bet will be double the original bet.
- If all three hotlines are active, the wager amount will be triple.
Wilds and Expanding Wilds
During the main game, re-spins, and free-spins, the wilds can appear anywhere on the reels. The wild replaces all other symbols except the Scatters.
- Any wild symbol landing on an active hotline will become an expanding Wild granting;
- Re-spins. Re-spins can be re-triggered if the second spin also has a wild symbol, potentially expanding the wilds to cover all reels.
Scatter Symbols in Hotline
Land all three Scatters on reels one, three and five to activate seven free-spins.
- If a wild symbol lands on any of the hotlines during the free-spins, it will expand and stay there until the free-spin session is over.
Our thoughts on Hotline
I’m not sure why, but after a few years working in this industry, I’ve acquired a sort of love-hate relationship with Netent. Back in the day, around the Gonzo days, I would say Netent was the absolute best and most innovative video slot developers out there. Now, some years later, we’ve seen some amazing games, but also a score of games with an out of the world production level, however still so-so in mechanics and playability.
Now, I truly believe Netent is onto something in their latest release. Hotline is first of all very playable, and the special features seem fair enough. One of the hotlines are on by default, and you have to wager the double to activate an additional one. That might seem a bit on the harsh side, but the RTP gets a significant boost by adding five extra possibilities for a reel covering wild.
Will I play it again? Well, My personal preference won't steer me close to this slot in the near future. That said, I can see how this video slot will appeal to some of our members of the community.
