The Top 5 Casinos in Las Vegas (part 3)
It wasn’t particularly hard to arrive upon a winner here, although before starting our research I must admit that I didn’t expect this name to be at the top or near the top of the vast majority of Las Vegas Casino Resort rankings. However, it soon became evident that one Casino & Resort had almost zero flaws and won almost universal acclaim across the board – our winner – The Venetian.
The Venetian Las Vegas
The Venetian opened in 1999 on the site of the former Sands property, and combined with its sister property; The Palazzo Hotel & Casino forms the Venetian resort complex making it the largest hotel in Las Vegas (and 2nd largest in the world behind its Asian counterpart, The Venetian Macau). It is also arguably the most visually arresting with the superb attention to detail evident throughout the Venice-themed behemoth. The resort features countless replicas of original Venetian landmarks and is famous for the fact that you can ride motorized Gondolas in and around the huge complex, complete with a singing gondolier steering you across the waterways.
Games at The Venetian
When it comes to the gaming floor, The Venetian and The Palazzo when combined offer over 1,900 slots which is actually not particularly impressive when you consider that every other casino on this list carry that many slots individually. However, when it comes to table games The Venetian scores very highly, offering some 225 games and a separate spacious high-limit salon offering 60 table games for their premium players.
The Venetian also has room to boast about their impressive 24 hour race and sports book where they house an enormous 10ft x 100ft screen which is able to show 42 independent events simultaneously. It also features 118 personal luxurious betting stations.
Our number one pick is also right up there among the best casinos on the strip for poker, with an impressive 59 tables including two separate high stakes areas, as well as hosting popular daily tournaments.
Entertainment at the Venetian
With regards entertainment and amenities The Venetian have their fair share of top-notch shows and celebs, pools and spas, and world-class restaurants. They also run one of the hottest clubs in town in TAO. TAO has been for years one of the top-grossing nightclubs in all of North America, let alone Las Vegas, playing host to as many as 3,000 revellers on any given evening. As well as the superstar acts and DJ’s who regularly perform there, TAO is also famed for its “Voyeur Models” who can be seen giving one another back massages, hanging in baskets, and bathing in rose petals throughout the club. As well as the capacious nightclub TAO also benefits from the world-class TAO Asian Bistro, TAO cocktail lounge and TAO Beach, which serves as an outdoor day club with private cabanas, VIP bottle service, and international guest DJ’s. Once the sun goes down TAO Beach forms part of the main nightclub.
So while there might be Las Vegas casinos with better rooms, restaurants, spas, clubs, gaming floors, and entertainment – it would appear that there are none better than The Venetian at offering all of these things together.
The Venetian Highlights
- Gondola Ride at the Venetian – A truly unique experience, riding a Gondola at the Venetian is one of Sin City’s most popular attractions. The gondolas glide through the canals of the resort, mimicking the street of Venice, while the gondolier sings romantic ditties to you. As long as you’re prepared to embrace the fun it certainly makes for a memorable experience.
- Best Architecture in Las Vegas – There is no denying that The Venetian Resort & Casino is stunning architecturally with spot-on replicas of landmarks such as St Mark’s Campanile, the Rialto Bridge, Piazza San Marco, and the Lion of Venice Column. The construction of gondola-filled canals running throughout the complex was also no mean feat.
So, there you have it. As much as it galls me to praise anything owned by Sheldon Adelson (multi-multi billionaire casino owner who is violently and rather hypocritically opposed to any form of online gambling), I can’t argue with the court of public opinion, and that certainly has plenty of good to say about this amazing Las Vegas Casino and Resort. The Venetian, a worthy winner.
