The Triton Million for Charity Event
This massive event, went cards up at approximately 1:45PM London Time at www.twitch.tv/tritonpoker, with the legendary Rob Yung announcing the “Shuffle Up and Deal”. With a staggering 1 Million British Pounds buy-in, this is the highest buy-in tournament to ever take place! What makes this event even more exclusive, is the fact that Businessmen/Recreational Players had to be invited by the Triton Team and they in-turn, were allowed to invite a professional poker player to the tournament. What makes this event historic, isn’t just the buy-in, but what they are doing for charity. Each player that buys in, has to pay a 50,000 Pounds fee on top of the 1 Million, which directly goes towards charity.
With a massive field of 54 players, Triton Poker has managed to raise 2.7 Million Pounds for charity! But wait, there’s more. What makes this tournament even more unique, is how they have decided to pair the players. As we know, a fair share of businessmen and pros are going to try their luck at the massive first place payout and the trophy. But, when the drawing for the seats was done yesterday, pros and businessmen had different sets of cards to pick from and a pro and businessmen were paired together. Their rule this year is this, for the first 6 hours of play, businessmen will play with only businessmen and pros will only play with pros. We’re not sure why they did this, but this kind of structure has never been adapted in poker history. This could mean, the businessmen might play more aggressive in the start so they could tighten up against the pros, and pros might take a more relaxed approach so they may save a lot of chips when it’s time to play against the businessmen. Some of the noted players who are taking part in this event are:
- Paul Phua
- Rob Yung
- Tom Dwan
- David Peters
- Mikita Badziakouski Belarus
- Stephen Chidwick
- Christoph Vogelsang
- Sam Greenwood
- Fedor Holz
- Tan Xuan
- Justin Bonomo
- Andrew Robl
