Giving up casino

Recommended Posts

Hello it is time for me to quit my bet size escalated from 1-5kr up to 1000kr per spinn a few years ago played away so much over the years and won back and given all along.

I really been at the bottom mentally so many times i got gambling under controll to 10-20kr a spinn then it escalated again now 100-250kr per spinn.

When you see theese big streamers with bigger bankroll bet alot lower then yourself you start to think.

I actually have searched professional help as of monday and been meeting someone there so I can stop gamble. My entire life was just all gambling.

Gambling paied for my house my brand new car my expensive watch my expensive clothing vacations to exotic lands expensive furnitures and guess what?

Gambling took it all away and even moore. If you feel like it gets out of control take it from me its not worth it. The bigwin you me and everyone else is chasing might never even be there.

The depression when you hit thoose over 100k loss in a week makes you cry inside it tears you appart so badly.

Then you win 80K and all is fine a little while untill everything goes down the drain again. All the bottles of whiskey i drank in sorrow over the years and the very few ones in happyness

I know what you whom is reading this might be going trough or maybe will in the future.

When casinos start to offer you things for not playing then my dear friend you are deeper in the shit then you might realise.

Never let it get out of hands and just stop if it does.

For anyone seeking advice from a fellow gambler who had everything and now nothing feel free to talk to me im allways here for all of you guys and gals.

Might not be as active watching the streams for a while as i need to get away a little. But I will watch now and then because I do enjoy it.

And im allways active here at my favorit forum. :)

First of all well done on admitting to your gambling problem. It makes people realize the consequences of their actions. You'll find that most streamers are very proactive in promoting irresponsible gambling sites to help people with addictions like this example of NickSlots. Prime example with his Gamcare time-automated command pointing people in the right direction. Some people have an addictive personality and if they gamble as well, the  combination can be catastrophic. We all hope that this issue resolves for you and send out best wishes to clear your state of mind so you can get your life back on track <3

Hi Andy,

Sorry to hear your story and well done on getting the right help. I'd recommend taking practical steps as well and self excluding from as many casinos as possible....Even the ones you haven't joined yet.

Just curious but was your wife aware of the problem and if so how did she react?

The stuff about actions of the industry taking their duty of care seriously is complete bollocks and pure window dressing in my opinion. I've been deep deep in a gambling problem and never once did a casino step in and suggest a timeout.  But what else do you expect....Would a tobacco company recommend giving up smoking?

I personally think that anyone visiting a forum based on slot gambling is probably addicted and they just don't know it yet. I suspect what probably stops a small problem becoming a big problem is lack of funds.

Good luck with it all.

Hey Andy,

I think all of us who participate in this forum or watch the streams are addicted / were addicted to the gambling. Every session is a struggle because we play for fun and to win, but lack of wins can make you furstrated so you start chasing losses and before you know it you get into troubles. Not forgetting to mention all the time and neglect a person does while gambling. It is fun - but only when you have some limits and stick to them. If you fail to do that, you are 100% sure to get sucked in. I wish you all the best in your recovery :)

Thank you, first of all it was so many lies the start to drifting appart since never spending time together etc bacause casino was everything for me i hid away in shame making sure noone could ever know about my casino, poker etc just playing was abit "tabu" in sweden and then on theese high stakes made everything worse.

Allways talk to your partner about it directly if tou have a problem admit to it directly let your partner help you. If you dont be sure to tell your partner anyway. A gambling life tear most relationship apart if 1 is on the outside.

When I said I lost everything thats exactly what I did and I kept gambling like nothing else mattered, just feeling sorry for myself.

Being addicted is not necessarily a problem if you keep it at normal level and dont let it escalate thats when it gets bad.

For me casino and poker was my hobby and my fun thing to escape reality.

The fun part everytime i was away 2 weeks or just took a pause or wanted to close my acount i could get anything from 100€ wagerfree money a high % bonus with 10x Wagering.(200-500%) to other offers wich I wont mention here.

And no casino would let me close my account in the chat telling me i had to email my VIP manager and thats where I got all theese offerings.

Thanks for the words. when gambling becomes your life it ends up being the only fun aswell.

Casino been part of my life for so long and I belive even outside my addiction I played because I was boored and didnt care really. I could win so much take a break come back play it all away and make another deposit and not care since i already counted them as a loss.

But after so many years the thrills are gone the fun is gone and you just keep doing it because you know nothing else.

Those are some hard hitting true words Andy, damn..

Much respect to you amigo. Thanks for keeping it real.

Thanks David.

The only thing I regret in my life is playing casino. And I allways tell people who never played that wonders where to start that "Don't it's not worth it."

"Don't put your life in someone's hands
They're bound to steal it away
Don't hide your mistakes
'Cause they'll find you, burn you
Then he said
If you want to get out alive
Run for your life"

Thanks for sharing your story Andy,

Many people have been in that spot and it's very important to be open and honest about it. I think it's good if you try to shut yourself down everywhere, maybe even stay away from this forum if it makes you want to gamble more, also I think you should seek professional help, the way you're explaining things gambling is very, very unhealthy for you.

Best of luck buddy, I hope you can get things sorted,
Kim

Hi kim :) Thanks for your words.

Yes its a tuff situation and I searched professional help this monday and going there on tuesday.

To be honest I dont feel like I have to gamble anymoore this winter I hit such a huge win that fixed up my life pretty decent again. It was like something snapped when I won so much the win I had been chasing so long since everything whent down hill.

Have excluded me from most site and have a 300kr deposit limit on my favorit site now.

However I will stick around on theese forums when other people win big it makes me happy. :)

When other people need help with their gambling issues I will be there. <- think this is where I will be most active.

And for other questions regarding casino I have so much experience from all theese years so who knows might come in handy for someone.

And the streams have actually helped me to "gamble less" since I replaced my gambling sessions with watching the streams instead.

The reason I signed up to the forumd was actually because I was going to start stream myself but now got other plans as you might tell. :)

Thanks all the luck needed. :)

It's counter intuitive but big wins can also have the effect of putting you on tilt, escalate the gambling.

I would be interested in knowing exactly how the professionals approach giving you help. I've heard cognitive therapy works quite well and is quite common.

It's interesting the casinos tried to get you to keep your accounts open by offering you free cash. I had a similar experience but in the UK our regulations are a bit more stringent so once you self exclude then they will leave you alone. I didn't go through this for problem gambling reasons even though this is what I told them. I was literally being bombarded with emails, texts and in certain circumstances letters in the post and phone calls and it was too much so one day I went on a SE mission.

Anyway. Good luck and all the best.

Will update about the help I get. :)

Yes and the free cash is not even close to the best offers I got.

However the casinos I "small" rolled on didnt have any problems with jusy shutting my account.

The ones I mid rolled on still enough for a vip manager ~10k€ a year also offered me stuff as soon as I wanted to shut my account but mainly just great bonuses.

And the high rolling x€ a year (dont even wanna know the ammount. :P ) offered trips like come visit them and real life items and crap. :/ And if I didnt play for a little while if i when vacations they sent me nice personal written emails asking how i was doing and that they missed me and if something was wrong etc.

Good to hear that you're doing something about it.

I'll be taking a "break" myself after things have been kinda crazy over the last month, I've never won so much before in my life, I'm massive profit this month, and of course, the bigger the wins, the bigger the bets, I'm nowhere near the amount of money that you've been gambling, but I've noticed that I'm starting to get a bit more addicted than I'm comfortable with, so I'll rather not play to much from now, and go lower deposits and bets when I actually play.

And as mentioned already in this thread, I've been starting to get special offer bonuses sent from casino's to me personally due to my high amount of activity on their sites, I guess that means I'm part of the "Play with way more money than the average gamblers group" :P

Good luck Sir, massive respect for you doing something about your addiction.

Great decission my friend. Take a break while on top and enjoy the money. :)

Come back and gamble when things are calmer again and you dont feel the need to play.

You won you are on top youre the boss dont gamble it away then youll get anxiety! :P

Its not about what amount you loose 1000kr per spin for me could be as bad as 10kr per spin for someone else.

Edit: I feel sick today thinking about 1000kr per spinn. What a bloody wonky wanker that AndyFox fella is!

Congratulations for you winnings. :)

Myself spent my christmas winnings on repairing a rare car i got and fixed up my computer(big interest) and a whiskey bottle I can enjoy watching some great streams in the future. :)

As for now I feel like lifes pretty amazing again and I honestly think im fully done with ever gambling again.

Might return to my other interest low stake texas holdem :P the money doesnt burn as fast as on casino. :)

You are not done whit gambling if texas holdem is your free ticket to heaven. Many people dont ounderstand the basic in gambling addiction. Its all about chemical unbalanse in theire/our heads. Dopamin wich makes you happy, spam to much when you playing slot, its the same with alcohol and poker. The only way to beat this is to see the gambling in a another way. Like gambling is only for fun, its like a hobby. Like going for bowling one day or cinema. All know they cant beat the casino, its the typical myte that everyone is so stupid they think they can beat the casino. Most of the people with gambling disease have also disease like depression, adhd, bipolar,OCD or drugs/alcohol-addiction.
